Seamus

To be a poet, one must be in love... or miserable. -Lord Byron

About Me

My name is pronounced "Sheamus." It's Irish. Now you know. I have heard that I posses a certain rakish charm... though doubtless this rumor is largely unfounded. I am a wino and an aspiring expatriate.
I was raised as a semi-feral humanoid in the Santa Cruz mountains, but the lure of civilization proved far too tempting and I ultimately abandoned my woodland home, seduced by the velvety thighs of academia. I was educated at Pitzer College in Claremont, California, and refined even further at the University of Modena in Modena, Italy. I am now a man of impeccable class and distinction, in great contrast to the surly beast child that I once was. I currently reside in Redondo Beach.
I like making things: art, music, mischief, out, etc.

My Interests

Intelligent conversation. Inebriated shenanigans. Art, music, literature, and cinema.

I'd like to meet:

Originals.

Music:

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, Bob Marley, Harry Belafonte, James Brown, Barry White, Sade, Prince, George Clinton, Rakim, Outkast, 2pac, Gang Starr, DJ Quik, Dr. Dre, A Tribe Called Quest, Cee-lo Green, DELTRON 3030, Rawkus Soundbombing II, David Bowie, Queen, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, UB40, Primus, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Gemelli Diversi, Gogol Bordello, Iggy Pop, Morrissey, the Cure, the Cult, the Misfits, Danzig, Depeche Mode, Koji Kondo, the Police, Ice Cube, Sublime, Prong, Tool, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Zapp & Roger, Peter Gabriel, Giorgio Moroder, Del, early Metallica, early Snoop Dogg, early Deftones, some Nas, some Eminem, some 50 Cent, Michael Jackson (he molested me when I was a boy, but I still enjoy his music), Osirus.

Movies:

I enjoy films that question the nature of perception and reality, such as:
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, 12 Monkeys, Vanilla Sky, Total Recall, the Matrix, the Animatrix, the Game, Fight Club, Waking Life, and The Wizard of Oz on mute while Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is playing.
I also like 007 flicks, Elvis movies (especially King Creole), Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Begins (though the other Batman movies are atrocious), Braveheart, Casablanca, the Maltese Falcon, the Adventures of Don Juan, Captain Blood, the Thief of Bagdad, the Lord of the Rings, Sin City, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Kama Sutra, Kagemusha, Slam, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Crow, Dead Poets Society, the Godfather (I & II), Scarface, the Indiana Jones Trilogy, the Royal Tenenbaums, the Life Aquatic, Amor es Perros, the City of Lost Children, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Grindhouse, Wonder Boys, the Three Amigos, Fletch, Coming to America, Back to the Future, Planet of the Apes (the original), the Ten Commandments, Dazed and Confused, the Sword in the Stone, Aladdin, Nacho Libre, the Mask of Satan, the Illusionist, the Prestige, Gangs of New York, Romper Stomper, Karate Bearfighter, and I find Crippled Masters rather inspiring.

Television:

ROME, Entourage, the Sopranos, Rescue Me, the Henry Rollins Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, the Simpsons, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Conchords, the Office (BBC version, not the American remake), Coupling, Mr. Bean, Manchild, Wild Boyz, Arrested Development, the original Star Trek, and I dig history and wildlife shows too.

Books:

The Count of Monte Cristo, Les Miserables, the Alchemist, Dracula, Frankenstein, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Arabian Nights, Doorways in the Sand, On the Road, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Breakfast of Champions, Cat's Cradle, For Whom the Bell Tolls, the Sun Also Rises, Siddhartha, the Catcher in the Rye, Red Dwarf, Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, the Phantom Tollbooth, the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Trainspotting, Porno, Glue, the Acid House, Shogun, the Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion, the Poetic Edda, the Prose Edda, the Mabinogion, Love is Hell, and those Harry Potter books are surprisingly dope.

Heroes:

Guys who were murdered:
Julius Caesar, Jesus of Nazareth, Rob Roy MacGregor, Abe Lincoln, Rasputin, Gandhi, John F. Kennedy, Che Guevara, Martin Luther King Jr., and I'll even include 2pac on this list, though he is of considerably lesser stature than the others.
Guys who died young:
Elvis, Jim Morrison.
Renaissance Men:
Botticelli, Da Vinci, Dante, Snorri Sturluson, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Thomas Francis Meagher, Tolkein, Taj Mahal, Bob Marley, Bill Clinton.
...and literary figures:
Odin, Gandalf, Baron von Münchhausen, and Haroun al-Rashid.
