Hello there. We are "The Openers" and we would like you to know everything about us. Luckily we have documented everything and decided to write it right here for you:
"The Openers" began back in March when Alex Voto and Dominic Mercurio began to jam together a couple times a week. very quickly afterwards Laurence joined the jam sessions and we all continued to make music and find an interesting sound to work with.
it wasn't until April that we actually decided on a band name "The Openers" and began to form some songs from our endless jams that we had recorded.
On June 29th we recorded their first song "I Wanna See You" in Elijahs home studio and began to build a small fan base among our friends. we followed our first recorded song quickly with recording "Be The Only One" on July 3rd and we began planning our first live show.
We performed our first live show opening for Mike Parvizi, Hannah, and Dartmouth at the Helio Store in Palo Alto. Shortly after the Helio Store show we announced our second show and began to work on more material.
We played our second live show in a small backyard show at JR and Amanda's house on August 4th and debuted a new song (that we wrote the day before the show) "Ivan The Sailor".
Knowing that Laurence would be leaving the band in late september to go to college in Santa Barbara we decided to set up a final recording session and final show with Laurence in September. on September 8th we recorded "I Can't Believe" and "Ivan the Sailor".
On September 14th we played in Dominic's backyard along with Home in Colored Gold, Hannah, and Dartmouth. it was the final show with laurence and became also the going away party for him.
Alex and Dominic plan to continue and re-invent "The Openers" in a form that we will announce shortly.
