The Last Batch of Brownies

Whatever happened to The Captain?

About Me

The Last Batch of Brownies formed in the Summer of 1991 when most of the members were about to embark upon their Senior year at Washingtonville High School. In the Winter of 1992, the band recorded "Nice, Nice, Very Nice" in Sputnik's basement on a Tascam 4-track.
The Brownies had the honor of opening for Ed Sanders of The Fugs, Bobby Steele of The Misfits, Cheese Butt Quartet, and local legends, Fierce Nipples, 17M, Peacebomb, and Skilltrip. By the Spring of 1992, the LBOB had saved enough money to record at Far & Away Studios in Chester, NY. With 17M frontman, Jimmy Fink, in the producer's chair, the Brownies banged out "Succumb to the Mule", a 7 song EP in 5 hours.
Shortly thereafter, as some of the band members moved away for college, playing shows became more difficult. Spiff left the band to form Siva Nadir and later, Johnny Thursday & The Friday Knights. Silky Jay Norris (one of the original founding members) returned on guitar as well as wunderkind, Sappy Dan. The band played their final show on May 12, 1995 at The Downtown, in Middletown, NY, with Dan Coutant sitting in on guitar.
