I recently cried my eyes out over Garden State. I abslolutely LOVEd Lost in Translation. I love old black and white films, Bette Davis, Humprey Bogart. I loved adaptation, all David Lynch films, documentaries, etc. Anything intelligent, with heart, not movies that try too hard. Also scary movies, The Ring, Poltergeist, Chucky...
History channel, HBO, Surreal Life and Strange Love, and recently Dr. 90210 plastic surgery stories. NY1 and the Today show in the am.
Currently I'm reading the Bonesetter's Daughter...I kind of skip from book to book. I went through a Rick Moody phase for a while, then Chuck Palaniuk, which led to a Charles Bukowski spurt (no pun intended), which led to a study of the Beat writers, and on and on. Whatever catches my interest, or what friends recommend to me.
All the kinds of people who do the work that I do, social work, also nurses, firemen, teachers, and people who strive every day to become better in some way. People who are aware, unafraid to apologize, people who could give a shit less about whether or not they are "cool", people who follow their dreams.
