Raised on the border of Canada in Caribou, Maine, Tess Collins came to Hartford to pursue her career as a jazz vocalist. As a student at The Hartt School of Music, she’s been fortunate enough to study jazz with world-renowned bassist Nat Reeves, trombonist Steve Davis, and singers Dena DeRose and Shawnn Monteiro. Though still very young, Tess has performance experience that stretches far beyond her age. Having performed at countless venues throughout New England and having shared the stage with numerous jazz luminaries, Tess is now leading her own group of up-and-coming musicians with whom to tour and record. Her group consists of Matt Warner on Piano, Seth Lewis on Bass, and Rob Griffith on Drums. With these musicians, she recorded her first demo CD entitled “A Time of Change,†which features a guest appearance by trombonist James Burton. Tess and her band are eager to share their renditions of the American Songbook and other jazz standards with anyone who will listen.
