Band Members: Currently I am a solo act and all of the instruments you hear on the tracks on this page are in one way or another, me. However, in the interest of playing live once again, I am looking at putting together a new group. Write to me if you, or some one you know is interested.
Influences: I try to stay open to all of what's going on currently in music. Of course that being said I like to make sure my influences are not just the it thing in the moment. I am a huge fan of a well built song played on an instrument that requires skill. The first bands I heard as a boy were The Beatles and The Greatful Dead. In the summer, when my father got jobs on the crews that did the sound work for touring acts that came through our small Upstate New York town I was exposed to some classics. I don't remember all of them, but their was the Charlie Daniels Band, The Turtles, The Moody Blues, and some where their is a photo of a very short seven year old me standing next to a very tall Pete Seeger. So those influences are all in there to one degree or another. Inspirations however are another thing. The first band that I found and really got inspired by was Led Zepplin. They were followed closely by Ani DiFranco and Nirvana. On a strictly acoustic basis Alison Krauss and Union Station, Nick Drake and Rosanne Raneri are all on the ipod. When I want to pick it up and rock out Ok Go or Cracker does the trick. I like the Bruce Hornsby box set collection that came out a few years ago. It has such a huge variation of music from classical to jazz to powerful rock that its kept me listening for quite a while. The truth is though I don't just listen to music constantly. I find that in order to stay inspired I have to expose myself to other mediums as well as music and so I listen to a lot of old time radio podcasts lately and am reading a book about driving Einstien's brain across the country.some more obscure influences for those who want to read on...
