Linda James’ statement: future legend. Since arriving on the New York City nightlife radar in the fall of 2002, the self proclaimed “androgyo-femme” has had her sights set on taking over all aspects of the entertainment world with her specific brand of rock and roll, comedy, pop, fashion, and above all else..... attitude.Born in New Port Richie, Florida; Linda James grew up in New Jersey. Having lived in four different locations by the age of 10, Ms. James developed a skill for entertaining those around her in order to make friends in each new city she encountered. This along with a “healthy” childhood interest in over the top television and demented celebrity media helped shape James’ hilarious and dark comedic, yet cartoon-ish point of view.In 2003, after completing one year at NYC’s Fashion Institute for technology, Linda James decided to turn her attention to her true passion for performing and entertaining. Determined to make it, James began paying her dues; regularly performing lip-sync numbers at some of New York City’s most popular gay bars and nightclubs including “The Rambles” at the Park, a party which was co-presented by Jonny McGovern (of LOGO’s “Big Gay Sketch Show”). It was here where James and McGovern discovered their unique comic chemistry, and in 2006, “GAY PIMPIN’ With Jonny McGovern” was born. “GAY PIMPIN’,” an irreverent comedy podcast broadcasting from painfully hip Williamsburg, Brooklyn with Linda James as McGovern’s tranny sidekick not only took off.... it EXPLODED Thanks to it’s worldwide availability and fans from all different walks of life, “GAY PIMPIN’ ” is regularly featured as the number one gay comedy podcast on itunes.com. Although, Linda James isn’t just chatty and impeccably styled, she musical tooAlong with podcast partner McGovern and artist/music producer Adam Joseph, Linda James began writing lyrics for many of New York City’s underground performers. In October of 2006 “This is NYC BITCH The East Village Mixtape,” became available for sale. “The tracks are dirty, they’re nasty, they’re faggy—and they have “Linda James” written all over them,” says NEXT Magazine’s Gregory T. Angelo. The album not only included Linda James’ solo rock epic, “The Bad Bump,” but it also featured songs from two groups of which James’ is involved: tranny rap supergroup La’Mady, and the new way dance music collective TEAM PIMP.In the years to come, Linda James is sure to stamp herself with the legendary children.
