About Me

I started out in music with the usual elementary school dabbling, violin, clarinet, sax, and finally got hooked with the beat element and played drums through Jr. High school. I always liked my Dad's guitar playing and finally tried to learn from him. He's a far better player than a teacher so I started learning through tab books and after I learned the basic chords I just continued by ear.In high school I had my first experience playing with some friends as a live band and knew the woodshed sessions were doomed. I had a cover band that did Rush, Extreme, Blue Oyster Cult, and Dream Theater songs (ambitious for our age and experience). I always did the vocals because I could play and sing at the same time and can carry a decent tune, but my true passion has been the guitar. In college the drummer (Gavin Lindores) and I started doing my original material and formed Turning Dramatic with my now brother in law Chad Rolfs. Chad could also sing and play so we had a really fun time with harmony. That band plugged away at the California Bay area scene for about 5 years before I finally had to follow my heart and run off with Chad's sister Christy (it's okay! He was trying to get us together!).Shortly after moving to the Wenatchee, WA valley I was in a band called Stompbox. We were absurdly heavy and had a huge stage rig which quickly gained us notoriety in the area, continuing with radio play and record label contract offers.I am very happy to again be working with drummer, Kevin Alcombrack on a new project called "The Project". His playing adds so much musicianship and quality to any song. It is an honor!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This is it!
Band Members: It's actually just me. I'm not a big fan of the usual fully computerized accompaniment so I play all of the backing instruments and record them in my home studio. The drums are triggers for ease of recording, but at least it's not just the typical drum machine! Lol!
Influences: Man, where do I start? My first and biggest inspiration, and influence, is my Dad. He is a wicked acoustic fingerpicker, singer/songwriter and all around performer. I have watched him awe groups with his variety, panache, and technical skill for decades. I only hope to inspire others as he has me.I must pay homage to Nuno Bettencourt for having an early influence on my playing for his flash, inventiveness, and tone. Then came Eric Johnson. WOW! His tone and control is still so remarkable. The usual metal influences are there too: Gilbert, Hammett, Dimebag. I also have a huge respect for the inventive, Lynch, Vai, Lifeson, Satch, Yngwie, Santana, Clapton, Beck, Young, the list couldn't end. I can only hope to take the teachings of these early masters to heart and do them proud in a new style of Alternative/Progressive/Rock.
Sounds Like: The above mentioned influences with my own spin. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, just remind people that it is still there. I feel like maybe I have my own style that is a product of decades of writing Alternative Rock tunes, but adding technical rock, classical, and blues inspired leads.
