About Me

  • Web de Lorraine / Lorraine s website
  • - Writing is my passion, right up there with being a mom. My father and grandfather are also authors. I m blown away by Latin dancing. I used to be a professional fitness instructor and amateur jazz dancer and am a professional interpreter and translator. - I m a traditionally published author with 13 titles to my name so far, in Europe and South America (you can see most of my book covers in My Pictures). They are available in the U.S. too. I am also a freelance journalist. - Most of my works are non-fiction, covering a variety of subjects that I feel strongly about (eating disorders, relationships, motherhood, writing and publishing) and three are novels. My lit. agent is in NY and I am now working on a book in English for the U.S. market and on another title for Europe. - I am 100 % bilingual in English and Spanish and bicultural: born in Spain (Spanish father and American mother), I was raised between the US and Spain, where I attended a British school (Kings College) with students from all over the world. I m extremely grateful for that, as I got to know and appreciate different cultures. - Determination is my middle name, and I usually achieve my goals. I like to motivate and help others to pursue their dreams too, so I authored a writing course based on my own writing workshops. - Shy but sociable, I cherish time alone, but also crave good company. - I LOVE to laugh, though my sense of humor is a bit peculiar. Let s just say I m not politically correct, but upfront and natural. That s my European side. - I try to learn something from everyone I meet, regardless of social status, sexual orientation, profession, religion, culture, race, ethnicity, age, etc. - Google me or visit my web page:

Dancing with Elegant Rumberos keeps my passion alive, keeps me fit in body, mind and spirit!

    I'd like to meet:

Other authors, writers, editors, agents, readers, dancers, and interesting people who are bicultural and / or open minded, passionate about their art and creativity and who have a sense of humor and dont take themselves too seriously!

    Music:

Eclectic. Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Aretha, Van Morrison, Bach ... Lately I listen to Joss Stone, Matchbox 20, Nelly Furtado, Tunde, Ne-yo, salsa, but all this could change next week!

    Movies:

Eclectic too. I enjoy indie films more than blockbusters though.

    Television:

Don't have time or the will to watch tv.

    Books:

I love books, not only to read them but as a fetish. They surround me in my workspace, bedside table, in my car, handbag, when I travel ...

    Heroes:

Women my age or older who kickass: Jodie Foster, Michelle Pfeiffer, Vanessa Williams, Susan Sarandon, so many more ... Virginia Woolf: for her work. Her personal life was a mess. Edgar Allan Poe: he was a genius. Unfortunately he was also deeply unstable. My sister Laura: she is my guru. My daughters: they teach me how to enjoy life. Lorraine Carbonell Ladish: Despite all of life s trials and tribulations, Im still here!
