Jay Purcell was born in Hastings, Sussex, UK, later moving to London and then Buckinghamshire in the early 1990’s. From a very early age Purcell had a great interest in everything creative and this theme has carried on in his creative ambitions having taught himself many skills across various media formats including Web, Print & TV which has seen him work on projects for the BBC, Abbey Road Studios and an upcoming feature film starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Mission Impossible III). Over the last 9 years Purcell has worked on over 20 different Film & TV productions in roles ranging from Sound Recordist to Camera Operator, Editor and Director. In the early 2000’s he spent 2 years working in a busy London production studio where he was responsible for the concept, direction & delivery of many video productions for high profile clients including Harrods. In 2004 he directed his first short film ’Intelligent Risk Taking’, which was part of a series of films exploring how poetry could be fused with music, actors and a moving image. Spurring Purcell on he then went on to direct 3 more films for this series which is now gaining a good following and has seen interview requests for various magazines and radio shows come in from as far afield as America and Australia. Along with developing and directing ’Continuum’, Purcell is also currently writing a pilot for a new comedy/drama TV series due to shoot in 2007. Purcell founded Funkbuddha Productions in 2002.
Agnes Muljadi - Actress/Co-Writer/The Indonesian Trouble Maker
Indonesian-born actress Agnes Muljadi began her career as a ballet dancer and received her professional training in Indonesia, England and America on full scholarship. Following the completion of her training, Ms. Muljadi performed leading and soloist roles with various ballet companies in the Pacific Northwest. She made her professional acting debut in late 2005 when she won the coveted lead role in the critically acclaimed documentary style short film, ’Cool Daddy.’ With essentially zero on-camera acting experience, Ms. Muljadi shocked critics nationwide with her award-winning portrayal of a sexually abused daughter. Within a year, she has completed four leading roles in various independent films such as ’Vanish’, ’Porcelain’, ’Forecast’, and the highly anticipated British short film, ’Continuum.’ Deemed one of the most promising newcomers to emerge in recent years, Ms. Muljadi will be starring in two upcoming feature films, ’Dichotomy’ and ’The Blank Canvas.’
Christin Torp - Co-Producer/Stylist/The American Muse
A graduate of Kirov Academy of Ballet and London Studio Centre, Christin Torp has performed leading and soloist roles from numerous ballets in the US, UK, France, Germany and India. While teaching at a few private schools in India, Torp also started her own ballet school in Kolkata where she served as Artistic Director. Upon her return to the US, Torp began working as the key stylist to actress Agnes Muljadi. Torp joined Funkbuddha Production as a co-producer in early 2007 and was responsible for setting up the US office in Seattle and heading up the pre-production for our US production debut, ’Continuum.’ In addition to her co-producer role, Torp also served as the key stylist and casting director for the film.
