Peg is me on drum's Josh Dodes (key's), Daryl Wilkerson (bass), Adrian Hartley and Maiya Sykes on background vocal's. Soloin' live is me on drum's Josh Dodes (keys) and Daryl Wilkerson (bass). Groovin' live is me on drum's Dave Hamilton (guitar), william Pope (bass) and Mark Christopher (keys). Blues Shuffle is me on drum's and Erich Goebel (guitar/bass). This was a 15 minute drum solo which gets cut off early because of a low battery on a video camera. I was sitting in on someone else's kit! This video was recorded live @ The Bitter End in NYC with Hadar Orshalimy on vocals, Asaf on guitar, Dimitri on bass and myself on drums. This song is called "One Man". This track is a slick and funky r n' b tune with some KILLER SOLO"S near the end. My solo starts at 4:28. This is a crankin' Funky, Rockin' Blues tune. This is the first time me @ Erich have played together in around 4 to 5 year's. I was sitting in on Erich's gig here, I have never played this kit before or this song for that matter, this is all improvised! Erich is only playing through a 10" speaker with 12 watt's of power with no effect's and a $150.00 guitar, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Influences: John Bonham, Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Bill Stewart, Bernard Purdie, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Matt Cameron, Stewart Copeland, Steve Gadd, Abe Cunningham, Steve Jordan, Jack DeJohnette, Idris Muhammad, Trilok Girtu, Jimmy Chamberlin, Manu Katche, Terry Bozzio, Angus Young, Bill Bruford, Mikkey Dee, young Mike Tyson, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, my friend and great drummer Johnny Rae (Scotland), Louie Bellson, James Brown, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Martin Luther King, Marvin Gaye, Steve Smith (especially with Journey), Alex Van Halen, Vinnie Colauita, Mike Clark, DJ Q-bert, Mix-Master Mike, Ritchie Hayward, Jeff Ballard, Brian Blade, Adam Nusbam, Omar Hakim, Flea, graffiti, hip-hop/rap, non conformist's, people with passion who are willing to go for what they believe in no matter what the cost, art and artist's from all genre's! Last but DEFINITELY not least, my late dad who had the greatest musical ear I have ever known anyone to have!!! My dad is the main person who is responsible for me being a drummer. He was the main person who could see that I had a talent for drumming when all I wanted to do was play guitar and be at the front of the stage, there was only one problem with that, I SUCKED, lol! I would not have went in for lesson's or have known to take drumming seriously without my dad seeing the talent I had. I miss him in the biggest way but I still and always will remember all the thing's he taught me which still influence me today and I know he would be telling me, slow down your playing to fast, lol, sorry dad, lol!!! My one and only drum teacher Mike Wandalis otherwise known as Bubbles or Mr. Bub's. Bub's is the shit, I wouldn't play the way I play without his influence, PERIOD and my friend Erich Goebel who I grew up playing with and whom you can see and hear on this site. In my opinion Erich is truly the best guitarist on the planet, PERIOD!!!!!!!!
Sounds Like: Depends on the gig allthough I do think the main ingredient's to my style are Funk, rock/metal, jazz. Let me explain, the funk part just come's out, it is in my blood and I just love funk music! The rock/metal is the aggression, attack, energy and fire in my playing. The jazz is my touch (even when hittin hard) my love and ability to improvise and push the envelope and musician's around me. But I definately never go into a gig thinking I have to play a certain way I just wait and adjust to whatever the musician's I am playing for are doing. I love to ad to a musicl situation! My first band was "The Heat" and they were a funky southern rock band. The next band I was in was a full on progressive yet grungy metal band "Euthansia", we got compared to TOOL, Alice in Chain's and Sound Garden a lot. The next band I was in was KID ROCK and for him I had to play straight up pocket to a DAT machine with no click live, I just did it! I think some people would of thought to much and made it way more complex than it really is, you just listen and feel and you will be allright whatever the style! My next gig was the "Killer Flaimingo's" cover band and that was pretty much all pop. My next gig was a few jam's here and there with the bassist on my track "Funky ass improv! After that there was "The Josh Dodes Band" from VH1's ""Band's On The Run" reality television series who were a piano based funk, pop, new orleans rock band, you can also here this band on the Peg cover track on this site. Then there were various fusion, pop, blues/rock, solo's which you can see and hear here and also at my main site jo-jomoceri.com or youtube.com just enter my name jo-jo moceri.
