I've been watching way too many movies lately. Oh well. Clueless, Ocean's Eleven, Beauty and the Beast, Mean Girls, A Walk to Remember, Remember the Titans, and Dirty Dancing are all-time favorites.
Friends is the best show ever! I'm so sad it ended =*( Oh well... there are always reruns. Hmmmm...what else do I watch? Law and Order, SVU is pretty addicting. Ha Ha... I'm a nerd and I watch Iron Chef (there's a board game now too!!!). Ummm... those VH1 shows are actually very entertaining. Real World/ Road Rules Challenge, Fear Factor, and The Real Housewives of Orange Country, Top Chef, any Rachael Ray show, and American Idol will hold my attention also.
Yes... I'm a nerd and I actually read because I want to. Here are the current books I've read or am reading: Angels and Demons, Wicked, Before the Mortgage, Caro's Book of Poker Tells, and a whole bunch of Las Vegas guides.
What is a hero really? To me, it's someone who inspires me to become a better person. I've been fortunate enough to be blessed with many people who inspire me for different reasons...
My Mom
She worked hard her entire life to give my sister and I a better life. She tried so hard to make sure I didn't make the same mistakes as she did, that she missed out on seeing that I've grown up to be exactly like her. Through all the times I've made her life so hard, she is still by my side. I know she is one of a very few people I know no matter what I do, she will always support me and do anything to help me through difficult times. Why, because she's my mom. And I'm proud to be my mother's daughter.
My Dad
After my mom and dad split up, I was so angry at, I don't know who. I was just angry. Eventually I got over myself and my dad moved back to the Philippines. He showed me that people can again be happy after such pain. Sometimes it just takes the strength to leave the familiar.
My Sister
My sister is absolutely perfect. If you've met her, you understand. For awhile I was so resentful. I didn't understand why things were so easy for her. Not that she doesn't work hard. She works harder than anyone else I know and deserves everything she has. She makes me want to be better. At everything. I always wanted to be just like her all my life. Now, I'm trying...not really to become just like her, but to become my version of her.
Arthur
When Arthur first started coming around, I was a stupid teenager, too caught up in my own world to care about anyone else. And boy was I mean... but Arthur always kept trying. No matter waht I did, he was still there. He's taught me not to give up on people, because I wouldn't want people to give up on me. On a sidenote, me and Arthur are great. He's a great guy and more importantly, he makes my mom happy.
Pat
Things didn't start off in a conventional way with us. Through it all, we're still standing strong. He puts up with all my crazy habits and still loves me inspite of them. He's taught me how to be patient and how to compromise. Two things I still have trouble with every now and then because I'm so stubborn (blame my mom... got that from her). He accepts all of me, faults and all and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Vinnie
I've known him since I was in the third grade. He literally knows everything about me. And through everything I've told him throughout the years, and everything we've been through together, he's still my best friend. He's never once judged me. Don't get me wrong, he's told me how stupid I can be many times. But no matter what I do, how stupid it is, I know he'll be there to listen and that I have his support. He's taught me what it means to be a real friend and how important it is to keep them close.
Nadia
We started out as clubbing buddies and somewhere between shots of Makers Mark, crazy exes, Las Vegas adventures, Bijou, and poker nights, she has become one of my closest girl friends. She has taught me that it's okay to show weakness. It's okay to not know everything and ask for advice. It's okay to be vulnrable. Because that's what friends are for. To listen to you and help you and find ways to get you out of situations you may not be able to handle yourself. I wish I knew all of this earlier, it really would have helped. Oh well, better later than never.
Peej
He's the big brother I always wanted. Protective because he doesn't want to see me get hurt. He's always there to take care of me. Whether it be with a bowl of soup, or a ride because I was stranded with a crazy person. He's one of the first people I can count on to be on my side no matter what. He's taught me what it means to be unconditionally loyal. We've had our friendship gap and I couldn't stand another one. No matter what happens in our lives, where we end up, we'll always be brother and sister.
Tevy
Our friendship started off kind of rough but through the cheating exes, weekend parties, DePaul sleepovers, Las Vegas adventures, and sushi dinners, she has become another one of my closest girl friends. She has taught me that lots of hard work mixed with lots of fun times makes for a great life. She makes me want to be less lazy and more enthusiastic to go out and do something great. I don't get to see her as much as I would like, but when I need her, she's always there. Always positive, always ready to conquer life.
And for all the other people that have somehow made an impression on my life... thank you for giving me something to strive to become or something to strive to avoid becoming. Either way, you've all helped to mold me into the me you see now.
