I like having fun. Thats it. I have fun at my job, where I get to hang out with (and teach, I suppose) 130 teenagers. I coach football, which is a lot of fun too. I feel sorry for people who work in jobs they hate, and those folks who obsess about money. I understand that money is important, but it should never drive a life. I might look like a hypocrite, because of my 401ks and Roth IRAs, but I worry about money now so I won't have to worry about it later. I like listening to music LOUD and singing along at the top of my lungs. TV is good too.
Someone who won't cry or vomit when they see me sans clothing. Somebody who looks at my face and sees "character." A person who knows the difference between further and farther. Somone who will correct my papers for me when I'm lazy. A person who hates George W Bush, but only if they know why! Someone who does even dumber stuff than I do. I know you're out there! Also, Stephen A Smith, so I can tell him that being loud does not make you right, and being racist does not make you opinionated.
Anything Rock n Roll. That includes Classic Rock (Led Zep, Floyd, Steely Dan, Jimi, Bruce Springsteen), Oldies (especially stuff from the 50's), Psychobilly, 90s metal (I've seen Megadeth, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Skid Row, Guns n Roses, Suicidal Tendencies, and almost Metallica live) and Hardcore, but especially Punk. My faves are Social D, Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues, $wingin Utter$, The Old 97s, The Ramones, The Misfits, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, The Transplants, Shane Macgowan and the Popes, Primus, The Templars, The MC5, The Queers, and all that 70s Punk and Oi. I have no problem with Hip-Hop/Rap in theory, but am I the only one tired of "Thug Life?" That being said, I can't help but singing (rapping?) rap from my generation ie: Cyprus Hill, The Wu, Ghetto Boys, Public Enemy etc. Also, a friend turned me on to The Arcade Fire, and though I can't really explain what kind of music it is, they're great.
To be quite honest I like pretty much everything I see (note that I NEVER see romantic comedies/chick flicks). The last time I was truly disappointed was "Sin City." I guess my faves are Princess Bride, Braveheart, LOTR, any Zucker Abrahams Zucker movie (Naked gun, Airplane, Hot Shots,) Harry Potter, Sean of the Dead, Kung Fu Hustle, Shawshank, Dead Poet's Society, Gangs of New York, City of God, Blues Brothers, Spirited Away, any Monty Python but especially Holy Grail, Underworld, the Matrix (the first one, gotta love that Gnostic Christianity,) Romper Stomper, Dodgeball, Anchorman and anything else that makes me laugh or cry. I also love bad movies, REALLY bad movies. I can find the fun in a stinker, but it has to be good-bad (Blade) not bad-bad (Dude where's my car.)
I watch WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much TV. All the Law and Orders, the CSIs, Lost, Battlestar Galactica (best show on TV, even if you don't like Sci-Fi), the Stargates, Alias, Aqua Teens, The Office, and My Name is Earl. I stay far away from reality TV, unless you count Football! And "The Daily Show" watch it, it just might change your life.
The three best books I've ever read: "Cryptonomicon" by Neal Stephenson, "The Illuminatus Trilogy" by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, and "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. I was addicted to the Gunslinger series by Stephen King, but didn't like the outcome. I've finished a comic book series called The Invisibles, it might be The Truth. Yes I capitalized that. If someone ever hands you a blank badge you'll know what I mean.
My Dad. He's living proof that hard work and dedication can make dreams come true. I wish I had one percent of his work ethic or his drive. He's made the perfect home for my Brother and me, and he's made my Mother the happest woman in the world. Also Mike Ness, Karl Malone, Homer Simpson, Tra Telligman and Atticus Finch.
