About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting

I am, without a doubt, a perfectionist...which is both a strength and a weakness ;-). But, as I get older, I find that things don't have to be AS perfect..still EXCELLENT, but not AS perfect. LOL!I'm a good listener, and on the flip side, I love to talk and laugh - A LOT!!! (and I write disseration-style emails, notes...everything! :-)). On the flip of the flip side, unfortunately, I can sometimes be impatient (but I'm striving to be more like Jesus in that, and every other aspect of my life). I have a genuine joie de vivre, and, for the most part, am highly contented with my life. I tend to be very passionate about many issues (especially where Christianity is concerned), and feel things deeply...I know I can be a little too emotional at times. But I have been told that I'm pretty warm (most of the time ;-)). People love to tell me their life stories almost as soon as they meet me :-), and I actually enjoy hearing those stories and learning more about them. I am an avid music fan, and a really good singer. For me, there's nothing as exhilarating as being on stage and using my voice and heart to evoke different emotions in people's souls.I also love attending live performances/concerts - just taking in as much musical vibes as I can. My next favorite thing to do is hang with my family & friends. That pretty much sums it up (in a long nutshell :)...and, oh yeah...as you can probably tell, I AM SUPER-PROUD TO BE TRINBAGONIAN!!!!

My Interests

Singing, flooding my ears - actually, entire being - with music, hanging out (in Trinidad we say "limin" :)), reading spiritually-enriching books (esp from the Christian perspective), lifting other people's spirits any way I can. LOVE to shop...for anything (well, particularly SHOES & other accessories :)

I'd like to meet:

People from all over the world & from all walks of life. I believe that each of us can have an impact on one another. But other singers, musicians & people in the entertainment industry would be super cool though :-). MySpace has already introduced me to some fine musicians & entertainers...here are 4 that you MUST check out (& support! - meaning buy their CDs!...pretty please? :-)

ROD is MEGA-TALENTED. He released "Tatenotic" in December 2007 & is getting ready to hit us with "Heart and Soul" in November...you can check out some of the songs on his page (and then purchase some of his CDs! :). The above video is one of Rod's recent performances at The New Town Jazz Festival on August 16, 2008...just too smooth!
(GO ROD!!!!)

This is JASON CARROLL...he's a one-man jazz band whose music simultaneously soothes and excites you - it gets to those innermost places...check him out and let me know if you agree with me :-)

Here is E. BLAND - representing soul/neo-soul/nu-jazz...another talented young man. Go to his page and check him out...my favourite is "Necessary" - I could listen to that song all day long LOL. I like him because he's a wonderful blend of some other artistes that I really love, but that blend is enveloped in his own style. His sophomore CD "Soulcentric" was released on August 29, 2008... it's "NECESSARY" you get it :-)

BRIAN O'NEAL is just AMAZING! The piano NEVER sounded so good!
And Billboard Magazine agrees with me, saying, "Brian "Bean" O'Neal is truly a remarkably talented up and coming jazz musician."
GO BRIAN!!!! :-)
(And lucky, lucky, lucky me...I got the opportunity to meet him in Cali on 08/08/08 - playing in Kem's band...WOOHOO!!! Did I mention that my seats were in the front row? Well alridy then :-)! Don't hate...congratulate!!!

When you talk Gospel/Jazz there's no band more phenomenal than "TAKE 6"...no one even comes close! Whether doing their thing acapella or backed by a full orchestra, these 6 men (good looking might I add :-)) take vocals to a whole 'nother level...and they stay true to the cause - to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in song (or should that be "sound" :-)). Check out the video below or for more of their work, go to their page at

Wow...Wow...Wow...I guess you can tell that I'm totally
"TAKEN" by them right? LOL

Music:

Well...I LOVE Neo-Soul, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Calypso/ Soca/ Rapso (Trinidad & Tobago), Dance Hall/ Reggae/ Dub/ Rockers :) (Jamaica), Gospel, some Hip-Hop, some Pop, some Rock, most fusions. At the end of the day, pretty much love certain aspects of all types of music. Favourite artists include (but definitely not limited to): Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder, KEM, Erykah Badu, Luther Vandross, India.Arie, Kirk Franklin, J Moss, Take 6, Jonathan Butler, Anthony Evans (my "new find" as of June 2008 :-)), Tonex, Lisa McClendon, Whitney, Floetry, Kindred the Family Soul, Barbra Streisand (killer voice & breath control), Michael Jackson (yes - say what you will, but he's still the hottest live performer EVER!!!), Richie Spice, Sean Paul. And homegrown from sweet T&T - Machel Montano, Shurwayne Winchester, David Rudder, 3 Canal, Mungal Patessar & Pantar, Rizon & Judah B (last 2 are close personal friends finally making their mark on the local scene - you go boys! ;-). Following is Rizon's first commercial song/video called "REACH". Rizon (pronounced Rise-On) is nothing short of AMAZING...but don't take my word for it, watch the video and check out his page: www.myspace.com/jahrizon(he's also got a video of a live version of "Reach" done at an Award Show...WOW!!!

Movies:

The Matrix (sci-fi at it's finest!), The Shawshank Redemption, Usual Suspects & Face Off. All the dance movies...Honey, You Got Served, Shall We Dance, Take the Lead, etc. Love comedies (romantic or otherwise). Any movie or television show produced/directed by Jerry Bruckheimer. Hate horrors... will not go to see those for anyone!!! (big chicken) 8-O

Television:

Love TV...given the chance/time, I'd sit and watch for hours (sad to say, but true!). Resolved to cut down :-). Actually I see most of my movies on cable TV (and not at the movie theater :-)). Favourites (past & present) - Cadence (best made-for-TV movie ever!), 24 (excellent concept & cinematography!), HEROES (What a HOT show!!!), Lost, Alias, Law & Order (all), CSI (all), ER, Prison Break, (these have about as much blood & gore as I can handle - vs horror movies... 8-P) Smallville, Ugly Betty, Live concerts (esp on BET-J), Soul Sessions. Recently started watching LMN - A lot of their movies are actually quite good (and no, I'm not sappy) :)

Books:

Not as diverse a reader as I used to be in my younger days ;-D (Too much "life" I guess! :-D). But favourite book is the Bible (been a Christian for 16+ years). Love anything by MAX LUCADO (Christian author) - he has a ridiculously deep grasp of the intricacies of the Cross! Like books which enrich my understanding of God and what he desires of me. Like Christian fiction too...Left Behind Series, etc.

Heroes:

Jesus, my Mom, my Grandmom, everyone who decides daily to rise above the adversities that come to make us stronger, anyone who claims to be a Christian and TRULY walks the talk (and fights to stay faithful to the end!)
