Syria's King

About Me

“This is for people every where, from the Middle East, across Europe and Asia through Africa and back to North and South America. It doesn’t matter who you are, Hip-Hop is universal. I spit it real, how I feel, and if it causes some to hate me, so be it. It’s all that I know, all that I see, I’m influenced by those events around me. I speak for the silenced souls in the Middle East whose voices are whispers amongst the loud cries of their dying land. I bleed their blood through my pen. If only one listener in the world, just one ear is hearing my message, I feel honored because I know my people’s story is being heard. I won’t find my success through the money in this game, my success lies in the roots of my country and those Arab countries around me who have been suppressed and neglected for too long. I deliver the message for the young lives who sacrificed everything for the lost cause most call “The Crisis in the Middle East.” You could turn your head or block your ears, but this music will keep coming, through me, and when I die, through the next man, until the message is heard enough times that the tears shed come from joy instead of pain. Until we get our chance to live free instead of die as slaves. Only then will there be silence. That’s exactly what it is.”

Influences: Kareem “Jenerus” Assassa, like many other striving producers, had a passion for Hip-Hop since he was a young child. His older brother used to always expose him to all types of Hip- Hop, from various West Coast artists to East Coast lyricists and Underground legends. Jenerus followed Hip-Hop through its various flavors. With little musical knowledge, Jenerus uses his “ear” to produce sounds that come together to make his style of music.“Whatever feels right will fit in the track.”He was born an Arab- American and spent most of his childhood in Los Angeles, California. At 11 years old, his family was dissolved by divorce and he was forced to move to the Middle-East where he lived in various countries such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Lebanon, and his homeland Damascus, Syria.“I’ve been to a lot of places, been in a lot of different situations and met a lot of different people, some good and some bad. I’ve had hard times in my life, struggled a bit, my scars have a story to tell, but I’ve learned from it all.”Jenerus, then at age 17, was back in L.A. doing what he needed to do to stay focused and make a path for his own. Derived from the influences of the streets, he was able to take that hustle, apply it to his many daytime jobs and save enough money to purchase his own production equipment.“I used to save a piece of every paycheck, every dirty dollar, every side-hustle to buy my equipment, from mics, to keyboards, drum machines, and all that. Some days I wouldn’t eat to make sure I stayed focused on buying it all.”Now, Jenerus is able to get all his musical ideas together, and has high hopes of providing the youth with music they could relate to. Hip-Hop is universal, witness the breaking of language barriers.
