About Me

Emmanuel Séjourné was born July 16th, 1961 in Limoges (France)

After classical music studies, at the Conservatory of Strasbourg, he specializes in keyboard percussion: vibes and marimba.

Since 1981, he has been active both as componist and performer.

THE PERFORMER:

He founded the NOCO MUSIC ensemble with Philippe Geiss. Their album, "Saxophone and Percussion", won (1984) Chamber Grand Prix awarded by the Academie du disque Français. To date he has premiered over one hundred works, including concertos (recorded with Luxembourg Philjarmonic Orchestra), solo and chamber with the ensemble Accroche Note.

THE COMPOSER:

He has written pieces for theater, dance, radio and TV Channe including ZDF, ARD, ARTE. Acclaimed by members of the percussion community, his works have been commissioned by Bob Van Sice, Nancy Zeltsman, Bogdan Bacanu, Gary Cook, John Pennington, Amsterdam Percussion Group, Ju-Percussion Group, Drumming...

His passion for the stage has led him to write and compose PLANETE CLAVIERS for the "Percussions Claviers de Lyon", piece comissioned by the Festival Grame. This wild and unusual show has performed 120 times beetween 1998 and 2001.

His concerto for vibes and strings composed in 1999, was performed by Orchestre d'Auvergne, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Kalisz Orchestra, Kozsalin Philharmonic, orchestre de Nice...In 2006, he composed a new Concerto for Marimba and strings, performed and commissioned by Bogdan Bacanu with Salzburg Solisten (album "True colors", classic concert records). Since 2007, this piece is regularly played in USA, Japan and Europe.

In 2005, he wrote a musical comedy for the Theatre National du Luxembourg: "School Boulevard".

This year, he composed "Sosso-Bala", the second piece commissioned by Ju-Percussion Group from Taiwan. After to have composed "Ketsana" for full-Orchestra (commissioned by JMWOrchestra), he wrote a concerto for percussion solo and full orchestra for America's Cup in Valencia (Spain), dedicated and played by Josep Vicent.

E.Séjourné is also head of the Percussion Department of the Strasbourg Conservatory.
