Hey there, and welcome to a new layout, this time all about me 'DJ Vinyl'. I am a Club/mobile/Radio DJ and also a member of a Crew ' Vibez 4 u, I've loved all genres of music from as far back as i can remember.I was introduced to DJ'ing by my dad, who is a mobile DJ, I used to help him until i was 15yrs of age and then i started doing it on my own, playing out at pubs, house parties & private functions.
The music i used to play was a wide range from 60's thru to modern chart music, with a few chessy tunes chucked in lol.I first tryed my hands at mixing when i was 14yrs of age all thou my mixing back then were more like pots and pans lol, my skills earned me the nickname DJ Vinyl amongst friends and it has stuck with me ever since. ( if you saw my collection now you would understand how apropriate it is :oP )It wasnt until i was 15yrs old that things became more serious, i had loads of bookings for my mobile disco, but was never in a postion to show off my mixing skills other then at home, and so it became like a hobbie and instead turned my attention to listening to DJ's mix rather than do it myself, my favourite stations at the time (and quiet alot of peoples) were Passion 91.8fm and Mission 90.6fm.I rarely mixed the tunes i did have and was thinking about stopping all together, having just left school, i had no money, no job & was a bored 16yr old. But eventually things started to change for the better, i had just got my first serious ( proper ) job as a scaffolder and the money was rolling in, finally i could add to my collection of records. The highlight of my teens was meeting my then & still stunning girlfriend Nicki ( miss vinyl ). And as all my time was willing shared between her & my job, The decks, records & mixing was pushed to 1 side yet again. When i was 17 me and my girlfriend were given the most presicous gift from God, our Princess Jade ( Daddy's Little Girl ), Then between 2002 - 2005 i was a mobile DJ doing all my gigs at weekends.I had lost intrest in uk garage music, this was when it was at its worst ( so who can blame me ) it wasnt until 2005 that uk garage was making a comeback and once again had grabbed my attention so out came the decks, ever since i have been building my record collection up with lots of old skool aswell as the lastest stuff. In 2006 God gave my a second gift ( must be for all my hard work ;oP ) My 2nd child Tyler was born, i notcied my children loved the sound of music & got back into my DJ mode again for them at home. The more tunes i played for them the more i realised that music was my passion.I was working really hard as a mobile disco DJ, but was finding it hard to play the music i really loved and so in 2007 decided to get in contact with phatbeats.net and was given a slot straight away going back to back with DJ Trigger, who i had been mates with for a few years, i then moved onto a solo show, and was asked to play down at x-zone bar which is where i met DJ Slim-Dee, we started doing shows together and as the year went on, i met more and more DJ's and was doing back to back shows with most of them Trigger, Slim-Dee, Secret C, Emphasis, Slippery D and DJ/MC Killer B are to name but a few.January 2008 Killer B and I, became close friends outside of radio, our converstations/Backtoback shows became regular. Our listeners loved us as a team and kept wanting more. Then on the 25th January whilst down at x-zone bar ( enfield ) Slippery D, Killer B and myself Rolled an hour sent and the crowd went wild. This was to be the start of something special, during a converstation after our set we all decided we would work brilliantly as a Crew, Slippery D after a drunken moment chose the name 'Ruff n Ready Crew' ( Lmao ). That name was short lived as on the sunday we had our 1st real show as a crew and had asked our listeners to come up with a name for us amongst a few that made us a laugh the name Vibez4 U ( Choosen by a listener ) Won us over, it sumed us up as a team full of vibez.Vibez 4 u, made a huge impression on phatbeats listeners and we enjoyed several shows one of which had a competition where our listeners had a chance to win V.I.P Tickets to Club Mass
where we were going to be playing to seprate hour sets ( 'HYPE' Launch party with guest such as Gemma Fox & T2 ) one of which was offering a limousine ride to and from the club. Unfortunatly the show seemed to upset the management of phatbeats, and was to be our crew's last show on there.Since Then me and the crew have been working very hard on our next projects and for now you can catch us on Hightz 87.7fm ( london ) and on Mondays you can find us on www.ukgsoldiers.com doing a 4pm to 6pm set doing what we do best bringing 'VIBEZ 4 U'.Last but not least, you will be able to find us every last Friday of the month playing at Club Mass ( Brixton ) check our page www.vibez4u.co.uk for more info & regular updates!!!!
