reggae, classic rock, electronica/drum & bass, atmosphere, underground rap, jazz, and classical. more specifically, led zeppelin, the rolling stones, the traveling wilburys, bob marley, a tribe called quest, j. s. bach, sublime, beck, beatles, steely dan, old school dr. dre & snoop dogg, pink floyd, crystal method, cream, andre nickatina, smoov-e, beastie boys, del the funky homosapien, dj food, dj hype, dick dale, dave matthews, atmosphere (eyedea & abilities), aphex twin, howlin' wolf, janis joplin, jimi hendrix, wise monkey orchestra, eek-a-mouse, victor wooten, van morrison, too short, tom petty, twista, johnny winter, stevie ray vaughn, joe satriani, steve miller, santana, the grateful dead, the expendables, capone-n-noreaga, matisyahu, the doors, nightmares on wax, kruder & dorfmeister, mystic roots, mr. ozio, w. a. mozart, chemical brothers. anything that gets the fuck down, is meaningful, funky, groovy, kick back, beautiful, or thought provoking. i sharply despise commercially produced music these days and most of my taste lies in older music.
i don't watch movies often, but my favorites are probably caddy shack, cheech and chong's next movie, the beatles yellow submarine, dr. strangelove (or how i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb), strange brew.
i hate televison. i'll watch quality video content minus the commercials, but you won't catch me in front of a cathode ray tube.
i don't often read books for recreation these days. despite the fact that i'm in no place in life to be reading anything but a physics textbook, i respect and love literature but prefer it in the digital form (hug the trees, save the knowledge [and be sure to keep a backup]). the best book i've ever read was george orwell's 1984.
francisco tarrega, jimi hendrix, linus torvalds, sean d. tucker, lefty gardener, my father, my mother. and i shouldn't forget - the paramedics who saved my ass.
