I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

First off, I'm a geek. No use in denying that fact. Being a geek is something that I'm pretty good at, so much so that I do it for a living. I usually won't talk unless I have something to say. And when I actually do have something to say, it can be difficult to shut me up. In short, I love what I do, and I love what I am.

My Interests

being a film junkie, going to shows, game nights (board and video), hunting down buried treasures in used record bins and video stores, reading, drinking to make the pain go away, sucking at golf, creative writing, travel, Japanese and Hong Kong cinema, your mom, comic books, puzzles, politics, philosophy, pop culture, the BBC, unhealthy monkey obsessions, life between the hours of midnight and 5AM, making overly long and incredibly obnoxious lists of my favorite films, musical artists and books

I'd like to meet:

Vagrants, truck drivers, felons, priests, pimps, air traffic controllers, stuffed shirts, and ne'er do wells. You know, good people.

Music:

Ted Leo, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Morphine, Bowie, The White Stripes, Fugazi, Johnny Cash, Rocket From The Crypt, The Flaming Lips, The Ramones, Motorhead, My Bloody Valentine, The Pixies, Supersuckers, Sleater-Kinney, The Misfits, AC/DC, The Specials, Husker Du, Sugar, Jay-Z, Outkast, Wu-Tang Clan, Neko Case, Guided By Voices, Guitar Wolf, Misson Of Burma, Riverboat Gamblers, Tom Waits, The Hold Steady, Drive-By Truckers, TV On the Radio, Mastodon, Isis, Bad Brains, Nick Cave, The Damned, The Dirtbombs...and if for some odd reason you want to know more, here's what's been rockin' at the workplace this week.Sometime you should ask me about bands that I hate. Trust me, that list is just as long.

Movies:

The Good the Bad and the Ugly (No film can top this for me,) The Wild Bunch, The Seven Samurai, Ran, Chungking Express, In The Mood For Love, 2046 (so yeah, most of Wong Kar-Wai's work,) Dr. Strangelove, Fireworks, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Killer, Hard Boiled, Das Boot, Giant, Superfly, Robocop, Suspiria, Brazil, Blue Velvet, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, old school Shaw Bros kung-fu flicks, Dead-Alive, Lost in Translation, The Great Escape, Death Race 2000, Shaolin Soccer, Kung-Fu Hustle, Italian horror and westerns, Once Upon A Time In The West, the Three Colors Trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, The Thing, Kill Bill, City of God (alright, you get it already, I like movies.)

Television:

Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Veronica Mars, The Simpsons, The Office (UK), The Sopranos, Family Guy, Arrested Development, Buffy, Firefly, The Daily Show (doesn't everyone love this?)

Books:

Lolita, Crime and Punishment, Catch 22, The Stranger, Dune, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, High Fidelity, damn near anything by Bret Easton Ellis, Elmore Leonard, Chuck Palahniuk, and James Ellroy, and tons and tons of comic books

Heroes:

"Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamp!"

Musicmatch Hates the Fiery Furnaces

About a year ago, I dragged my good friends Nate and Sanjeev to a Fiery Furnaces show at Emo's.  Unfortunately, they hated, hated, HATED the show, and I've spent the better part of the last year ...

Giving thanks

Last week, Im walking out to my car in the half-zombified, non-caffeinated state that I usually drive to work in these days, when I find myself in the unusual situation of walking on massive amounts ...
