The two main species of crab that is most commonly sold in the U.S. are the Coenobita clypeatus and Coenobita compressus. Hermit crabs are crustaceans. They are social and like to be with others. Crabs are nocturnal and can live up to 15 years in captivity. Also needed are things for them to climb on, over, and under to keep them active. Extra shells when ever i have time i uselly take my Crabs out so this Was they can walk around Outside in the grass and hear new stuff they like it alot... They like to try out new homes for themselves. When looking into buying shells, crabs will move into a shell that is about 1/8 inch larger then its larger pinching claw.
