S.E.A. (Skate Erie Adolescents)
We are considerably the youth of the Skate Erie Association. We are working our hardest to get Erie Pennsylvania a skatepark. Although the Adolescents group is still young in it's path, the Skate Erie association has been at work for three years or so now. With endorsements, in kind donations, and support from Earth Force and all of those wonderful people in favor of getting a skatepark has made us into a very strong and serious committee.
SKATE ERIE MISSION STATEMENT
The Skate Erie Association is a volunteer group recognizing the necessity for a recreational facility that meets the needs of both a culturally diverse and multi generational group of people known as skateboarders.
The SEA is committed to raising the necessary funds by coordinating efforts between public and private parties to build a quality skate park in Erie.
Through continued advocacy the SEA seeks to improve public perception of skateboarders through education, information distribution and community outreach.
POSITION STATEMENT
Skateboarding is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. As kids graduate from swing sets and seesaws to ramps and rials, skate parkds provide a safe, alternative to the street. It is the position of the SEA that a wide variety of activites within an enriched environment foster healthy life styles for people of all ages.
We appreciate the complexities of issues facing our youngsters and believe that safely practiced social and athletic activities build self-esteem, relieve stress, and serve as one wapon in the arsenal of drug and alcohol prevention tools.
It is the belief of the SEA that a well maintained and properly designed park will foster growth and development of our community through the enhancement of local regional tourism.
As it stands today there is no facility within a 25-mile radius of Erie that allows skateboarders the opportunity to do what they do. A skatepark will allow us to provide a safe place, off sidewalks and deadly streets for people of all ages to gather and engage in an activity that encourages social cooperation and expression.
