British gender bending queer WOMAN.
Multi media visual artist (photography/film/installation/performance), vocalist, DJ, Mistress of Ceremonies, promoter and
Dominatrix
Questioning the use of the body, perceived notions of femininity, celebrity and pop culture, Holestar is an amalgamation of different things; an artist, drag goddess, live performer, promoter and DJ. She has appeared in art spaces, clubs and events all over Europe, New York and the UK, performing at events from Vienna’s Life Ball to Kashpoint, the V&A Museum to Glastonbury Festival.
Holestar’s intention is to blur the boundaries between the avant-garde and mass entertainment, pop culture and the underground.
While living and working in Vienna, Holestar’s art work was dealing with issues surrounding sex, sexuality and gender.
Exploring further and being inspired by the Blake Edwards film Victor/Victoria and not wanting to fall into an obvious gender swap ‘drag king’ role, after some experimentation, became the ’Tranny with a Fanny’.
At the Vienna Life Ball, Holestar met a DJ who asked her to talk dirty over his sets as an event host which was a perfect opportunity to workshop the idea in front of an audience.
While being paid in vodka, during an MC set, she began to sing improvised lyrics over the top and the rest is herstory.
Holestar moved onto performing live bootlegs (the art of taking an instrumental track and singing the lyrics of another over the top) from electro, pop, disco and rock.
She has since expanded on the drag goddess character by performing lip synchs, spoken word, conceptual pieces, acting and singing straight songs and has performed at different kinds of events from underground clubs to art, fashion and corporate events.
Holestar has also worked extensively as a DJ, host and promoter.
Holestar is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Fine Art at Central St Martins.
The intention; to inject humour into art and make it accessible.

P.S. Myspace whores - If we have nothing whatsoever in common, please don’t bother adding me (real whores welcome of course).
Sorry if that sounds snooty but I’m not interested in lots of ’friends’ for the sake of numbers.
