I'd like to meet:
SHOOT FOR THE STARS
Shoot the Stars – Part three of a limited edition clubbing series of six.
Thursday 17th July.
The Star, 359 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2. Free entry B4 10pm. £5 after
Shoot comes crashing into its middle-age, like a tired and emotional soap star, with Shoot the Stars, an examination of celebrity, fame and the shameless self-promotion of Generation X-Factor.
From the A list to the Z list, nobody is content with their fifteen minutes anymore. Our televisions heave with wannabe pop stars, actors, and fame junkies, so green with envy at the pampered lives of the rich and famous you’d swear they were under the lime light already.
Britain has become one huge Celebrity Love Island, obsessed with the banal minutia of other people’s lives which we’re told are more beautiful, more glamorous, more worthy than our own, till the fickle wind of fame blows them down. But in the world of reality TV hope springs eternal. If she can be famous, why can’t I too? You only have to see the plethora of would be presenters and hopefuls doing their thing on YouTube.
Despite what you might have seen on your screens, however, Britain has got talent and Shoot gathers it together in a venue fittingly called The Star.
As well as London’s fastest rising girl about town Jodie Harsh presenting a video piece with Bourgeois & Maurice there will be contributions from an array of artists gazing through the celebrity mirror.
Superstar DJs Alex Warren and Kat Heath join residents Warboy and Hey Joe for the bass heavy backdrop to get your head rocking harder than Gillian Taylforth in a motorway lay-by.
In tribute to the godfather of modern celebrity, we invite you to shine too. Control the music during Fifteen Minutes of iPod Fame before taking your turn dressing up in the I Shot Andy Warhol Relay and receive a free shot that’s guaranteed to hit you in the chest.
The Shoot roaming reporter will also be news-flashing through the night to make sure everyone is kept up to date with the tittle tattle as it unfolds.
Come dressed for the red carpet or that fallen from grace mug-shot. But be sure to make an impression when you’re here because there’s only one thing worse than being talked about. And that’s not being talking about.
