Biography
Written Sean Yue
Sean says it's really boring. So only read if you must.

Before she could remember, Krysti was saving lives. So maybe it wasn't with scalpels or surgical blades, but in her daydreams, Krysti was administering chicken pox vaccines to playful kindergarteners, or listening to the tummy of a child who had just consumed a pound of undercooked steak. And when playing doctor with dolls became childish, Krysti picked up pens and engaged in books.
Unsatisfied with anything less than academic excellence, Krysti was always ranked among the top five in her class at Fossil Ridge High School. And if that isn't one amazing feat, in what little spare moments she had, she arranged time for Student Council and Business Professionals of America. With her dedicated and passionate nature, it's no surprise she was elected commander in chief of both Youth and Government and the National Forensic League. Sadly, Krysti, unselfishly, gave up her position as both founder and president of Math Club for a rigorous college curriculum at the Texas Academy of Math and Science. But with every sacrifice, comes rebirth.
Notorious for its academic hardships and dreadful cafeteria burgers, TAMS is an institution where many young adolescents taste firsthand the bittersweet fruits of living abroad and total independence from home. Nonetheless, for Krysti, it provided the opportunity to enroll in college courses, all taught by university professors, and earn up to two years worth of college credits before graduating high school.
It was here where Krysti found her love for biology and explored her interest as a junior executive for the TAMS Medical Society. It was here where Krysti discovered her own Vietnamese heritage and bonded with many others who shared her culture and visions. It was here where Krysti left her own footprints, giving proudly to her community and tallied well over 150 hours of community service in tutoring, habitat for humanity, and Asian Student Association events.
In addition to being an exceptional leader as Student Activities Coordinator in the distinguished Asian Student Association, Krysti was an honored recipient of the National Fight for Sight Summer Fellowship, enabling her to research for a cure to the hereditary eye defect named retinitis pigmentosa last summer. Representing University of North Texas, she was recognized for her unparalleled dedication to minority communities through the UNT Multicultural Scholastic Award.Email: [email protected]

Heroes:

"I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent."
-- Mahatma Gandhi, Nonviolence Activist
"You should respect other religions... the essence of all religions is basically the same: to achieve a true sense of brotherhood, a good heart, respect for others. If we can develop these qualities from within our heart, then I think we can actually achieve true peace."
-- His Holiness The Dalai Lama
Quotes

"A single smile can go a thousand mile." "Smiling is contagious, so smile and get the world infected."
-- Krysti Vo

"A day without laughter is a day wasted."
-- Charlie Chaplain

"I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."

"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
-- Albert Einstein

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."
-- Morrie Schwartz , an American educator and sociologist, subject of "Tuesday with Morrie"

"Life has taught us that love does not consist of gazing at each other but in looking together in the same direction."
-- Antoine-Marie

"Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you. Wait for the one who turns to his friends and says,".....that's her."

"It is far more impressive when others discover your good qualities without your help."

"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."
-- Sex & The City
