GRML (composer)

GRML is an autodidacticly composing keyboarder and pianist. He began to play the piano at the age of 6 and has been composing since the age of 15. From the beginning, he has been experimenting on his keyboard with instrumentalization and composing. His songs tend to be pop-like also covering ballads and some contemporary influences such as Disco and Trance adaptations. A special artistic influence had artists as The Beatles, Queen or ABBA as well as Ennio Morricone, Rondo Veneziano and of course Classics. Therefrom stems his weakness for instrumental and film music same as arrangements and choral music.
The first three records on this page have been produced via home recording before the year 2000 - that´s why the recording quality could be better, but currently he is producing his songs professionally in a studio. In the earlier days though, lacking better equipment and the financial means, he had to compose and arrange his music at home on his keyboard and you can hear the result here.
A peak of his producing was the composition of the music of the musical "VERdammt" ("Damned") that has been performed eight times in 1998 (cast: soprano-, two tenor- and alto soloist singers, 30-head choir (four part composition), three keyboards (financial cause), e-guitar, e-bass, drums, alto-saxophone, classical flute); performance time: 2 hours; net music: 70min). The forth track "Euphorie" comes from this musical.
Currently he is dedicating himself more to choral music that has been brought to performance by the choir "Vokalensemble Philophonie" ( www.philophonie.com ) who he has been a member of since 1996 as a tenor voice. In 2006, he performed two piano pieces and three of his choir works in a concert of the Philophonie.
