About Me

Upward Descent is an alt~rock band from chesapeake VA. It was formed as a side project by Heaven Falls Hard bassist Raven and Co~Vocalist Joshua Lindahl. As it began to form into a legitimate project they recruited fellow Heaven members Randy (drums) and Dave (lead guitar) as well as Gojira~X guitarist Russ Robinson (playing bass in upward descent) and began rehearsing their first demo. After recording, the stress of supporting families as well as working full time and being in two bands prompted randy and dave's departure from the band and lead to the induction of John Drummond (on drums) and Mark Morris (on lead guitar), as well as a minor shift away from the garage sound that they began with. Shortly they had a set list together and began playing mainly parties. Recorded also during this time were 3 songs, one of which made the cut and is listed here as "updown live"...progressively, inner conflicts began to tear apart at the band leading to a break away as john and mark went on to work in a "jam band" and russ focused on gojira~x more. throughout that time however, josh and raven have continued to work on new material both individually and collaboratively.Our goal has always been to be a party where people stop to pick up instruments and play some music. We never had the goal of being "technically precise" or anything of that nature. We don't really believe in using a bunch of effects or anything either live or recording, aside from reverb on josh's voice and distortion on the guitars. We focus on music that sounds good and has emotion and some good raw energy. Our resurrection seems imminent and we hope to have some new material posted soon. Aside from that, we hope that the previous music will sate you. Thanks for listening... ~rave~ the blonde one
