THIS IS ME!
I opened my MySpace initially to communicate with my kids who both live away from home now. Now that I am here, I would also like to meet other artists, particularly metal artists and fantasy artists, as well as other like-minded people.
My husband and I own our own metal fabrication shop which keeps us extremely busy, which is good, though it doesn't leave much time for sculpture work and more artsy stuff. Although this year we have gotten a couple good commissions for some 10 foot tree sculptures for the downtown Fresno area and some more copper repousse work.
Personally and artistically, I am facinated with the fairy art simply because I think it is very whimsical and beautiful. I would like to develop my sketching skills and do my own fairy art. Also, on my big list of things to do, I would like to create some copper fairy wings with stained glass accents maybe?? and a copper mask using some old school coppersmithing techniques I have learned. I would also like to learn more faux painting because I think there is a real application for it on some of our steel projects (and maybe some enhancements on some of the copper stuff???) Art is so subjective I suppose the sky is the limit! I also am interested in getting into some bigger scale metal sculptures and am always facinated to see what other metal artists are doing these days!
This summer, we are moving our shop and home up into the foothills just below the Kings Canyon National Park, after which hopefully we will have some free time to work on our personal projects! Just the environment up there alone inspires creativity - I can't wait!!
