LAURA FAYE is an Alberta based singer/songwriter and bass player who has been involved in music from an early age. Born in Abbotsford, B.C., and raised in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, her parents enrolled her in piano lessons when she was six years old. Unlike most children, Laura Faye showed a real interest in music and started singing as well. While in high school, she became a member of the jazz choir. The choir director chose twelve students, including Laura Faye, to form a jazz group which performed in numerous southern Alberta centers. In 1992, Laura Faye won both the director’s and student’s choice awards. This was the first time an individual was awarded both trophies. In 1993, both the choral and jazz groups competed in the International Music Festival in Honolulu, each placing in the top three.LAURA FAYE took some time away from the music to raise a family. Now as motivated as ever, she has taken steps over the past couple of years to return to the music industry. In 2004, she entered songwriting and singing competitions. She competed in the Country Vocal Spotlight, Lammle’s Rising Star and the Roads Country Showdown performing her original songs. She has also performed with Wild Hearts (a country/rock duo 2004/2005) as well as in the Calgary-based band called Straight Up! She has also performed with other local bands as a guest artist and back-up singer. She has demoed some of her original material for consideration by other artists.Currently, she is in the process of writing new material for a new CD in the future. Keep your eye out for Laura Faye!
