About Me
A powerhouse of pop-punk pleasure, Pikes lo-fi indie assault leaves their legions of both real life and MySpace fans ready to ditch their crappy jobs and join the 24/7 Pike Party. Their first release, The Sound Of Power Tools EP, is packed tight with infectious anthems full of sharp-witted pop culture references, joyful hand-claps, random daily observations and crackling electric harmonies. Their most recent release, "...from someone so small," is a continuation of their comic book, punk-influenced raw power.
As a band in demand with a full schedule of local and regional gigs, Pike has also got confirmed showcases at high-profile National music conferences and festivals, including Invasion of the GoGirls @ South By Southwest (Austin, TX), Dfest (Tulsa, OK) and Hyperactive Music Fest (Albuquerque, NM) all through 2007. A hard-working independent band with a head for out-of-the-box promotion, Pike was invited to write a theme song for the Cincinnati Rollergirls titled "Jawbreakers (Love Theme from The Cincinnati Rollergirls)" which is played at all the Cincinnati Rollergirls' bouts.
Raging out of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pike was formed in the late spring of 1995 by percussionist Holly Knepfle and guitarist/vocalist Kelley Kombrinck; at first under the unfortunate name Unhallowed, and with a different lineup. After recording their first EP and building the Pike name for six years, the band broke up, and Holly and Kelley joined Kelly Jarvis in a heavy metal project. In 2003, better judgement sent all three of them back to the Pike drawing board, bringing on their good friend Wade Weber along on bass. Their songs are written together, with topics ranging from quitting their day jobs to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. Their goal is to continue making music they love, and to influence other artists the way The Breeders, Reverend Horton Heat, The Pixies, Nirvana, and Primus have influenced them.

PRESS AND SUCH...
...Their new EP, The Sound of Power Tools, is a joyride exploring several variations on their raw, upbeat AltPop. Pike is consistently dynamic and radiant, harnessing punk riffs and varying song structures. Jarvis has a powerful, new wave sneer and Kombrinck possesses a quirky, slightly nasal and hyper quality. Interestingly, both work perfectly when paired with the band's playful Rock foundation. Their contrast would equate to a lack of cohesion if they didn't back one another so ably, reminiscent of the B-52s or The Cramps.
