About Me

There comes a time where we must face of hate... stray even further into unknown ground... to breath the midnight air... reach to the stars, the guiding light... bringing death unto you... Ghost Of Mendea line up of Joel Leonard, Craig Jezewski, and Andy Besch originally formed in 1991 under the name Manifest. The band played mainly Sepultura, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Obituary, and Kreator covers with some original material, then over time members moved away leaving only a ghost. Eight years later that ghost would manifest to possess us all again. Winter 1999, Joel Leonard (Guitars) and Craig Jezewski (Guitars) had decided it was to form a new band, something that took us back to our roots. Dark, heavy, and fast as Hell. In the mid 90's Joel and Craig had been in several Doom Metal projects, Eve Of Mourning and Seasons Of Darkness. Joel stated in one interview with Metal Inc. "I liked the atmosphere of the music but my heart was not in it anymore. I grew up on Speed Metal bands, King Diamond, Kreator, Celtic Frost and Slayer. I needed to play as fast and relentless as I could, yet maintain a dark atmosphere. Craig and I aways worked well together, I've known him more than half my life, our bond is as strong as family. Our visions share the same end." Autumn 2002, Andrew Besch (Vokills), heard we were auditioning singers, since he was our original singer of our Thrash/ Death Metal band Manifest he was the perfect choice, and came into the embrace of the ghost. The three of us started composing new music with a ravenous hunger. Our sound new was forged, but and a revolving door of drummers and bassists almost killed this band. For 7 years we kept our dream alive and recorded 3 unreleased demos. "It wasn't really till our fist demo, "The Vengeance Demo" we really found our sound. Without the recording of that demo we would not be here right now. It was an extremely dark time for me." Our second demo, "Treasures Of Hell" was never completed thanks to a studio fire. We only have a rough copy. Our latest demo "Cult Of The Dead" is the most revealing look at the Ghost thus far. It is true to form. Early 2007, under a winter moon, Brian Gangsted (Drums) heard our new demo and felt a cold chill pass under his skin, he knew right then, he had to be a part madness. Lord Temptation of Valhom has now joined forces with Ghost Of Mendea, taking over bass duties. The ghost was reborn.New CD, Cult Of The Dead, is finished. We are waiting for our members to make a thanks list and take band pictures then we shall press our first thousand Cd's. I have no idea when it will be ready. Hopefully this year.Things are going well for Ghost Of Mendea. We are rehearsing many times a week and are writing new material. The new songs are as epic and blasting as our latest release yet we continue to expand our sound. We should be playing shows any time now. Any bands wishing to play out just let us know.Any Zines looking for interviews and/or reviews please contact us.Any fans looking for a Cd or shirt feel free to contact us, I respond to every message. Our Brand of music stands on its own. that seems to consume everything.

A brotherhood with such overwhelming darkness and brutality that only those who are frozen with awe and through frightened lips dare speak our name. For we stir the darkness in their souls and yet they yearn for more, so they speak our name. GHOST OF MENDEA
