About Me

About me:
COMING UP: THIS WEDNESDAY APRIL 2, 5p-6:30p Seattle City Hall
MAKE ROOM FOR ART: CULTURAL OVERLAY DISTRICTS FOR SEATTLE
Free, All ages
Description: Arts, entertainment, commercial real estate and public sector leaders come to City Hall to present Capitol Hill as a possible pilot area for a new Cultural Overlay District program.Attend this free public event and demonstrate local demand for allied, creative city-making.
Capitol Hill is not the only Seattle community wrestling with the challenges of retaining cultural amenities and neighborhood character. This event represents an opportunity for anyone who supports working on tools for community-driven, culturally-centered neighborhood development.
We hope to see you there!!

WHAT. As we’re learning with the current real estate pressures, the arts don’t happen in a vacuum. Think of the Emerging Arts Leaders Project as a deployable tracking device for local issues affecting the arts – building the continuity and connections that lead to effective action. This project is connected to the national Emerging Leaders Network coordinated by Americans for the Arts. Based on the interest area sign-up sheet at our Taking Stock event last October, plus continued feedback and community research, the collaborative Emerging Arts Leaders Project here in King County is evolving toward the following mission:
Build platforms for easy & effective civic engagement on arts and cultural issues and stimulate leadership development along the way.
(Currently staffed by 4Culture in partnership with City of Seattle Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and Emerging Arts Leaders from throughout King County including from: Capitol Hill Arts Center, City of Bellevue Arts Program, KBCS Community Radio, Next: Social Ventures, On the Boards, Seattle Art Museum, Shunpike, Youngstown Cultural Arts Center)
