My Interests

Music:

Band Website: wavewalker.freeserve.co.uk
Band Members: This is the official site for the original music of REAMANN O GORMAIN a.k.a. Raymond Gorman aka founder member of That Petrol Emotion and now an aspirational Wavewalker...well water puts out fire doesn't it?Born DERRY CITY , IRELAND JUNE '61 on the day John Coltrane released MY FAVOURITE THINGS I am a guitarist / wordsmith / chanter of no fixed hairstyle who for ten years wrote songs and played guitar in THAT PETROL EMOTION a.k.a. THE MOST UNDERRATED AND CRUELLY FORGOTTEN GROUP IN THE HISTORY OF POP MUSIC. I am now mainly involved in Wavewalking and also in some capacity with FIRETREE , THE JIMMY SAVILLE TERRITORIAL ARMY and DISCO-TENT (I played on their seminal recording "Now is the winter of our disco-tent"... oh yesI no longer choose to define myself by what I don't like (as I did for so many years) but rather instead by what I LOVE... you could say that's a core part of the WAVEWALKER philosophy: LA VIDA ES AMAR ..! LA MUSICA ES AMAR ..! TOUJOURS L'AMOUR! What I'm attempting through the Wavewalker's words and music is to uplift your Spirit - in fact I'm COMMITTED to it - I'm down on the frown! - I'm looking for ALTITUDE not ATTITUDE... y'hear??I dig the beauty of spontaneity (SAHAJA) and the unwritten poetry of our everyday lives - the many, myriad amazing things we take for granted all of the time - the ocean / sunrise / sunset / breathing / friendship / a crimson gerbera flower / a clear, cloudless summer sky of endless blue azure... a half-remembered dream that makes you feel good the whole next day... simplicity... recapturing the innocence and wisdom of childhood.... music / melody / rhythm / poetry / songs that send shivers up and down your spine... that make you remember / relive a beautiful lost moment in time... or rather help you to experience a true feeling of eternity... of true timelessness... of being part and parcel of a greater collective whole/being...I SING THE SPIRIT ETERNAL...the union (YOGA) of our individual self with the higher self...NOW is the time for humanity to ascend to a higher level!!I believe with all my heart and soul that William Blake saw angels on Peckham Rye.... "Kill therefore with the sword of wisdom the doubt born of ignorance that lies in thy heart. Be one in self-harmony, in Yoga, and arise, great warrior, ARISE."All material is copyright control. If you want to be my friend please at least do me the courtesy of listening to my music and making a comment...btw I change the music a lot on here so be sure and drop by often. Other musicians who play on these trax you hear include mostly the mighty Damian O Neill and Brendan Kelly - true believers Kevin Sharkey,Aindreas O Gruama and Paul Green from Peterloo Massacre also feature.Be sure to check out my brother Ciaran McLaughlin's myspace site as well."Love is but a song to sing / fear's the way we die..."
Influences: "they wish the Spirit to be finite, like any historian, let the scholars mix ash with blood, throwing sparks upon the stake. weaving a noose for a ghost... we shall know better & be as we become...." - William Blake (singing the Spirit Eternal ) - So what do i REALLY love???? too much , too many...all that cool jazz electro hip hop reggae funk soul blues rock n roll from all corners of the globe its all pop music to me baby..but it has to be looking skyward / the Beatles = earliest musical memory how lucky is that? / "Black (Power) salutes in the 68 olympics on tv"/ Keef Rolling Stone's riffs n backing vocals n Charlie's drumming / dancin and groovin to "Ride a white swan" with Diane Jackson aged 9 /the heartbeat mosaic = melody + harmony + poetry + the sound of friends together enjoying n happy, natural, openhearted laughter / Hendrix at Monteray (Killing floor! Pink feather boas!) / Mike Leander's Glitterbeat sound specifically "I didn't know i loved you til i saw you rock and roll" / Marc Bolan n David Bowie taking me out of the monochromatic rainy bombsites n claustrophobic volatile trouble bubble of Derry life in the early seventies and into outer space via beautiful 7"singles bringing some colour / fun / glamour / imagination / singing along / air guitar to proceedings / Motown n Stax n Atlantic / Sly and the family stone / Love / Television / Buzzcocks / Al Green (check out "Jesus is waiting "on youtube / the Velvet underground live 1969 double vinyl / Taste and Rory G who i betrayed bigtime during the Stalinist punk years oh yes and Thin lizzy too God bless you Phillo / the Pistols doing Pretty Vacant on TOTP and ohmygod the energy!!!!! me jumping up and down in the front room by myself and thinking MY GOD THIS IS IT THIS IS FECKIN BRILLIANT ! YES! my life is finally starting for real ! / Led Zeppelin "what is and ..." all three versions of "communication breakdown " off the BBC live sessions and the early Scandinavian tv concert footage/ hearing bob dylan's "its alright ma" whilst hitchhiking in a car in Southern France aged 17 and feeling that i was possibly listening to n hearing song lyrics for the first time EVER and feeling completely in the moment nay in the furnace of the moment as bj would say and the hairs on my neck stood on end and I felt connected to the lifeblood and really understood that we not busy being born are busy dying n i had already "been" many many times already before n always remember "don't hate nothing at all except hatred".....Crosby Stills Nash and Young together and solo,Tim and Jeff Buckley,Avishai Cohen,Lewis Taylor,John Martyn and Steely Dan, EST and Nina Simone, brazilian music, tropicalia, Jorge Ben and Georgie Best...(to be continued pt 465)...
Sounds Like: a little bit of uh-huh and a whole lotta OH YEAH!
