alright, so snappy had this great song that aric wrote called yavin. it was a favorite to be sure and really fun live. snappy never recorded this great song but thankfully aric's band realspace did. aric does the singing (tessa was not in the band) and the world needs to hear it. i really hope aric doesn't mind, but it's a little tooooooooooo late now isn't it?=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=0=

==================================== snappy started in the minneapolis area around 1994. aric and tessa were (and are) brother and sister (she was 16 and it was 2:00 am when she sang on the recordings). aric (side note; aric was in a band called anna's eyetooth. amazing group!) and nathaniel wrote the music, it was mostly collaborative. carrie and tessa wrote the lyrics and put the melody to the music. snappy entered a local band contest that attracts musicians and record executives from around the country. matt custer was the first drummer for snappy, but commitments to other bands (juno janai/lincoln red, and mine's clarence) caused him to drop out. enter andy rauh. the year snappy entered, they placed 6th out of maybe 150 groups. that summer they were able to play the impromptu stage at the cornerstone festival outside chicago. the show ended with the crowd yelling, "somebody sign these guys!" there was such a great response that they were asked to play at the 5 minute walk (label) stage and later the 7-ball magazine stage. after opening in minneapolis for alt rock band HOI POLLOI, an exec from rex records in new york met with the band to get them on their roster. snappy declined, and a couple months later the label went belly up. true story! snappy's free-for-all, high energy concerts and manic sticker tosses earned them quite a reputation around town. aric and carrie left the band in the summer of 1995 and tyler burkum stepped in to play guitar. he was 16 at the time. after a few more months, the band called it quits. everyone went their separate ways amicably. ============================================================
==================================== aric and carrie formed a band with jer hill and chris dewan called 'realspace'. aric played guitar and sang, carrie played bass, jer was the guitar virtuoso that he's always been and chris was the tight creative drummer. i don't know what happened with realspace, but now aric is in a band with his brothers called 'vinca'. nathaniel went on to play bass for local mood rockers 'live in japan' and 'the nina the pinta and the santa maria'. he still plays with live in japan, but ended up leaving 'the nina...'. they have since changed their name to 'north' and are playing quite a bit in the minneapolis area. there are cd's available of the 1 cd the nina made. it's really good! nathaniel is featured on north's myspace page on the songs 'make me like the moon' and 'epicurean fashion'. live in japan just finished their 3rd cd. after snappy, tyler burkum joined 'audio adrenaline'. yes, THAT audio adrenaline. i hope you got a chance to see this short lived supergroup. ============================================================

as for who played on what recordings; aric played guitar and sang on the songs DEWBACK, ENDOR, CRUMBS, and GAP. tyler played guitar and sang on TANAAB, SLENDER, JOEY, and DUH. tyler wrote the riffing intro part on the song 'duh' that gets repeated. it's awesome! nathaniel played bass on all the recordings, and andy played all the drums. of course it's tessa's voice on everything. **A BIG THANKS TO ELAYNA CARLSON FOR TAKING MOST OF THE BAND PHOTOS AT THE VARIOUS EVENTS!!** ============================================================
