Saffron Lobster

Improv/Jam-band Extraordinare

About Me

Saffron Lobster began as a trio when Bass player Dennis and guitarist/vocalist Chris, both of the former local band 34 Franklin joined forces with Dave on August 1, 2004. The music to come out of the three was, and still is a lively blend of bands like the Grateful Dead, Primus and Bob Dylan to name a few. They took pride in the improvisational, jam-band, ragae style that emerged on that very first practice. With many years of experience playing together, Dennis and Chris wrote several songs which were adapted to the new band.

On October 31, 2004, the trio recorded their first demo at Ampreon Recording Studio in Youngstown, Ohio. Though the recordings give an idea of the sound that the band possesses, an addition to the band in December of 2004 does not allow them to be as accurate. Bill, joined the three on December 8, 2004 as the keyboardist.

A new demo will be in the making in the near future, hopefully. Until then, we hope you enjoy the old recordings we have on the site. We've included a practice recording of "The Mat" which includes Bill on the keys. Sorry about the quality, but even though you can barely hear him, the song gives an example of the freedom one extra member gave the band. Enjoy. And, feel free to contact us with any comments or questions!!
