A sAs a child, Robert Perry’s (CHEWBOOGIE)surroundings always involved entertainment. His career began at age 7, singing and playing the drums in his church choir. Perry, a self-taught musician, played several instruments in his middle school band and continuously worked on improving his musical skill. Perry believes that he is “destined for fame.â€Perry worked hard to learn all the ins and outs of the music industry and in 1993, his hard work began to pay off when he formed a group with a friend.Two years later Perry co-produced the album of a local artist and sold 700 copies independently. From 1988 - 1999, he performed in and was the winner of several talent shows.Perry began experimenting as a solo artist and producing his own beats. He was chosen to be the opening act for several local artists from his hometown of Flint, Michigan. Such artists included M.C. Breed, The Dayton Family, Esham, and Top Authority to name a few. With the success and recognition that came from this, Perry realized that “with God on his side,†he could accomplish anything.Upon this realization, he set out to establish his own recording/production business. He put on a concert that almost sold to capacity, and earned the money to purchase studio equipment. He then began opening shows and doing work for labels/artist such as Cashmoney Records, Soilder Slim(R.I.P),Triple Six Mafia,B.G., TELA,Operation 2-6-3, Projectborn,Unionboyz,Three Piece, Small But Mighty, and artist from Major Labels.Perry has now accomplished a goal he set out to do, and is truly destined for fame. He has future plans that includes continuing his work with other artists, writing, producing, and pursuing his own career as a rap artist.
