Rudy Roux presents: Antigravity09

What we do is use Common Sense is UNcommon.....

About Me

The Antigravity09 began in October of 2006 as a studio project that brought together bassist/songwriter/visionary Rudy Roux & trumpeter/producer Mike Shields as grand collaborators/co-conspirators in what would come to be known as the infamous "Antigrav Sessions".
Rudy wanted to record some of his songs, ideas, thoughts and compositions as a way of preserving them for later use with his band Diasporic. Mike had the facilities, time and the expertise to help make this possible.
The First Evolution: After recording a few rough tracks Rudy and Mike both realized that there was something special in the vibe and the music and that the possibilities were limitless as to the avenues that could be explored musically if certain individuals were brought in as "studio musicians". After composing the "blueprints" for about 10 or so songs on a Yamaha Motif, Rudy started contacting musicians that he felt could add color and range to his already ambitious and sonically diverse compositions.
When it came time to finally begin the "Antigrav Sessions" Mike had secured a great studio for tracking with George Shalda, a friend, talented engineer, multi-instrumentalist and member of Austin latin musical monsters Cienfuegos.
Tragedy Strikes!: Due to a $%&*@! computer malfunction the Antigravity09 lose about 4 months worth of work. They have to pick up the pieces and start over again basically from scratch! But true to their names and reputations they rise to the occasion and get back on track.
The Second Evolution: During the recording process the musicians, who had all been brought in solely for the purpose of getting the music recorded in the hopes of releasing a cd that all those involved could use to promote themselves and their individual talents, started conveying to Rudy an interest in actually putting together a band and taking the Antigravity09 to the stage. This new possible course of action made for even more inspired writing & recording sessions.
Labor of Love: Within a nine month period, begining October 2006 and ending June 2007, 40 + songs were composed, arranged & sequenced by Rudy Roux. Out of those only 21 made the final cut for the first cd. Hundreds of hours were spent writing, programming sounds, sequencing the compositions then MIDI dumping these into Digital Performer, getting the roughs to the musicians, rehearsing, refining, rewriting and then recording the live performances. Last but not least comes the mixing and final mastering of the cd which will be completed after we return to the studio in late Autumn of 2007.
Let There Be Antigravity09!: And so it is that now we can all enjoy the fruits of this unlikely crew of individuals’ labor of love. Relax your mind & let your conscience be free to feel the vibe that permeates this bangin’ sonic rendering. Take an emotive and musical journey of passion, love, doubt, longing, rebellion, tragedy, hope, loneliness, joy, peace and redemption.
The Antigravity09 is currently in the process of rehearsing for the stage and writing new material for a second cd. Videos for the songs "Common Sense" & "Something In The Pot" are in the works.
Rudy Roux is still an extremely active member of the Austin based CrunkRock band Diasporic. Check ’em out! Rudy Roux also does studio work in Austin and New Orleans and you can find him drinkin’ tequilla or eating great food at one of many fresh spots in THA ATX. Bon appetite!
