First and foremost I am proud to have been born and raised in CHUCOTOWN.I am also a proud member of the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD. I have been in for a lil' over 8 years now and enjoy doing my job. As a US Coast Guard Flight Mechanic aboard the HH65 Dolphin rescue helicopter, I have been witness to a lot of cool and exciting missions. The best and most gratifying one has to be Hurricane Katrina. I was part of the first aircrew to return to New Orleans, just hours after Katrina made land fall, and as a member of that first aircrew, I was recognized as having performed the first rescue hoist over the city of New Orleans. Katrina was the first time the whole world became witness to the incredible work and dedication that the US Coast Guard men and women perform on a daily basis.I currently hold a position as a recruiter for the US Coast Guard. I volunteered to be a US Coast Guard recruiter, specifically a recruiter in El Paso, because I wanted to spread the word, to fellow El Pasoans and Latinos in general, about a fifth option when it comes to volunteering to serve this great Nation of ours. We all know someone that has joined one of the other four branches, whether it was the Army, Marines, Navy, or Air Force. But not too many people ever consider the US Coast Guard as an option when deciding to join a branch of the military, and the only reason I can guess is, lack of knowledge. Lack of knowledge about who we are, what we do, and where we get stationed! So that is why I am here, my sole mission in El Paso for the next two-plus years is to try and educate as many people as I can about this great branch of the military, that no one seems to know much about. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and I'll be as brutally honest as possible.
