Flying Squad

60's style punk rock, crank the effin' volume

About Me

»-(¯`v´¯)-» «-(¯`v´¯)-«

I am very sorry to say that we have suffered a monumental loss in the untimely passing of Tim Murphy on November 19, 2007. Tim will be missed greatly by all of us in the music community who considered him a friend, as well as his family members, including his son Tyner.
From several beginnings when we were all still in the single digits, all that mattered was the music.

The middle 60's bad boys, then Iggy and others, then the 70's punkers, Ramones, Pistols, Gen X, X-ray Spex, Viletones, Sham 69, Vibrators and all the rest, they all helped to influence and point us in the right direction.

Kerry (drums), Dave (bass), Larry (guitar), and Wanda (vocals), started it all with the Dead Rabbits, then Kerry and Larry (guitar/bass) hooked up with Tim (vocals) and Bob (guitar/bass) to form The Flying Squad in about '82.

In '84 or so, the lineup changed to Kerry, Larry (guitar), Tim and Dan (bass) to form the longest and best known incarnation.

In the late 80's, the band went through some lineup changes, eventually disbanding around 1991.

Several songs made it onto various compilation recordings, as well as an independantly produced cassette release, and a single vinyl 45.

There are several live audio recordings that will be changed occasionally (when I remember).

Sounds Like:

Iggy meets the Ramones at a Dictators house party for the MC5 sponsored by your local biker club.

Combine 14 and a quarter beers, possibly some hallucinogenic drugs, all amp volumes on 11 and you're getting close.

Wanks, dweebs, folkies, jocks, discophiles NOT welcome.

They wouldn't even make it past security.
