I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm selfish, but I'm trying not to be. I love Jesus, my wife, my daughter, music, making artwork, tea, oatmeal, reading, and conversation. That's what's currently in the nutshell.Check it: Three Bears Design. We best learn to sing more strongly than we are. The last time I took a walk, I swear that the rocks beneath my feet were beginning to hum.

My Interests

.. Friendship. Forgiveness. Hope in that which was, that which is already here, and that which is to come. Creative expression and experience. Aesthetics and the arts. Cooking. Books and bookshelves. Monastic spirituality and intentional community (less buzzword, more sacrificial reality). Ancient/future worship. Trying to be teachable and unassured of my "wisdom". Seeking a deeper practice of the presence of God. Living in such a way that Jesus would be remembered, even as my face and name are forgotten.
Theological, spiritual, and philosophical reflection, discipline, and discussion that translates into practicality, life-change, growth, social justice and encouragement. The wiping of scales from our eyes. Simplification, and becoming less and less of a rampant, media-controlled consumer. Alternative fuels and those things that can be powered by them (biodiesel and waste vegetable oil in particular). Learning, both in class and out. Listening as much as possible to NPR.
Enjoying the products of musical exploration, development, challenge, and expression. Throwing my own high baritone into the ongoing polyphany.
PLACES YOU SHOULD PROBABLY VISIT. Jewish Voice for Peace.

I'd like to meet:

Folk I already know, and people with an openness to exploring or considering the fact that the message and person of Jesus is not necessarily defined by those who claim to love and follow him.
I've no interest in adding strangers, bands, record labels, and assorted organizations. If you seek to "add" me as your friend without writing to me about why that is, consider your request deleted. No hard feelings.

Television:

only exists so that one can have a box to play 8-bit Nintendo through. In short, Super Mario 1-3, Contra & Super Contra, and a squadron of other wonderful games are the only reason we have a television in our home, and an ancient, decrepit one at that. It's hidden away and unconnected to cable, thank the Lord.
We watch Lost online through a semi-pirated wireless signal (what can I do? I use a Mac with Airport built in), and I remember fondly watching Airwolf, The A-Team, Gummi Bears, Fraggle Rock, The Muppet Show back in the day. Word.

Life unfolding.

There's a little girl I know whose face I have yet to see.  She apparently prefers "right" as opposed to "left", judging from where she's hanging out predominantly inside the lady I love.  S...
