The brothers Grim

1998, Samara. Twins Borya and Kostya set up a band and called it “Grim Twins”. 2001, Moscow. The brothers showed up in Moscow and appeared at different sites with one of their projects, Bossanova band, and at the same time delivered their demo tracks to radio stations and record labels. 2004, St.Petersburg - Novosibirsk - Moscow. A St.Petersburg friend of Grim Twins sent their demo tracks to Novosibirsk. Later, several tracks were sent to Moscow in the form of a postscript to the records of one local group, and then by chance they got to producer Leonid Burlakov. 23 October 2004, Moscow. Kazansky railway station. For the first time, the 23-year old twins met in person with Burlakov. After 6 days, they signed an agreement on cooperation. Within one night at the “Sputnik” studio, the guys recorded several new songs not yet heard by Burlakov and became acquainted with their sound producer Oleg Chubykin. End-November 2004, Moscow. The final structure of the band was formed, drums and bass were recorded. Along with album work, the brothers were also preparing for concert performances. Five songs, namely “Norway”, “Summer”, “Second Half”, “Eylashes”, and “Smash To Pieces” made up the first demo disc of the band. 20 December 2004, Moscow. 16 Tons Club The Grim Twins performed in the party “Megahouse Fresh Blood”. This was their first contact with the Moscow public. The band played eight songs and drove the audience wild. February 2005, Moscow. The Grim Twins song the “Second Half”, was played on Radio Maximum. On the 25th of February, the Grim Twins performed in Luzhniki as guests at the solo concert of Umaturman. 17 March 2005, Moscow. The movie theatre “Pushkinsky” made a premiere of the film of Alexander Strizhenov “From 180 and higher”, and the cover song for the film’s sound track was the Grim Twins’ song “Eylashes”. 21 April 2005, Moscow. The Green Theatre of Stas Namin hosted an Open Concert for First Fans. 16 May 2005, Moscow. International Music House. The band’s first clip for the song “Eylashes” was filmed, directed by Elena Keeper. In early June, this clip made its way to the country’s music channels. 10 June 2005, Moscow. B2 Club. The first Open Concert of the Grim Twins took place, with virtually no tickets left available for sale. The chance to see the twins was enjoyed only by the band’s most faithful admirers. Summer 2005. “Eylashes” occupied the leading positions in the major national radio hit parades, including the Golden Gramophone on Russian Radio. By August, this song could be heard on one hundred and ninety six radio stations in five hundred and eleven cities and towns. In this very month, the band departed for a grand tour of Russian cities. 4-5 September, centre of Moscow. The directors tandem, consisting of Leonid Burlakov and Vadim Gortinsky, and the cameraman A.Arsentyev, directed the shooting of the second clip of Grim Twins for the song “Kusturitsa”. This clip will make its debut on 5 October in one of Moscow’s women only bath-houses.
