51 ACRES

San Antonio's Best Party Band" -The Edge Magazine

About Me

The Acres officially came together just a few years ago, practicing and writing music on a fifty-one-acre piece of Texas land. The Reisner Brothers (Brandon and Troy) had been playing music together since their teens before they joined forces with bassist Fil Grady and guitarist Zuri Cabaza in 2002. They played a few shows here and there, but with numerous line-up changes behind the drums it was hard to cement something that was built to last. In the summer of 2003 Fil brought in his old high school friend Jordan Slaughter to audition behind the kit for the rest of the band. The new band had found an undeniable groove that night, and after talking it over a few cold ones, decided to set up another practice and play a few gigs. The band played successfully as a 5-piece for years, but it wasnt until the spring of 2005 that the band would find their missing piece in keyboardist Matt Wolff. The Acres havent looked back since, and have set out on a mission to share their music with the world The Acres have had some great success in the first few years as a band and have accomplished many things such as: establishing a strong local fan base by playing over 150 live shows in and around San Antonio; advancing in a Battle of the Bands competition; having a full hour in-studio live concert on Trinity Universitys KRTU 91.7FM; and making our TV debut on KENS (CBS) TVs Great Day S.A. We have also received the honor of being voted and named both San Antonios Best Party Band by The Edge Magazine, and Best Local Music Newcomer by The San Antonio Current. The Acres define their own style of jamming and try to fuse all types of music together into something they can call their very own. Jim Beal Jr., the San Antonio Express News Music Editor, has tagged them The Citys Party/Jam Band and recently had this to say about the funky sextet: Battle of the Bands are a dime a dozen. Whats more important is that 51 Acres can be relied upon to do a rousing show every night out.
