Well I've come to realize lately that it is possible to be a procrastinator and a profectionist... also that I always write with "..." maybe bc my thoughts are all kind of continuous, who knows. The contradicting combination of "me" makes life interesting.. and no one wants boring.. at least I don't. I love to laugh and making others happy makes me smile. I'm a pretty in depth person and would take a real conversation over a shallow one anyday... but I do like to be sarcastic and play around and act like a total goofball too... I can be totally random and an oxymoron at times...I think it's important to be able to find a happy medium between sarcasm and serious... I love long talks... soul searching I guess... just figuring out what makes people tick. I can have a good conversation with most people unless they are ignorant and unaccepting. I love to talk to people who make me think... People who are open minded, willing to share their opinion but also willing to not only listen to yours but truly try to understand where you're coming from, as I try to do, truly listen, not "fake" listening or fake conversations. For that matter.. not fake people in general. I've been described as compassionate and creative, weird but I say original. haha I'd say I'm like the girl next store but with a little feisty streak... can't stand living in a box, but I'm not a huge rebel either... I've been told I have the wisdom of an old soul... I guess sometimes I feel old... is 23 old? lol I find joy in little things like watching the way light reflects on the water.. I'm drawn to the water... in more ways I realize as I'm now living in Rochester, MN with no natural lakes... it's impossible for me...I'm captivated by the beauty of a sunset or laying watching the stars and searching for shooting stars in a cloudless night... especially with a special someone to share it with. I'm a hopeless (no hopeful I guess is a better term) romantic, maybe an idealist... I love romantic comedies.. but I'm also a huge tomboy and have a great time watching guy movies with my dad and comedies with my guy friends.. and I love old classics like Audrey Hepburn, Aretha Franklin and Shirley Temple. I probably have more guy friends than gf, just bc girl drama is annoying. But I can be quiet feminine... I think it's more the artist in me though. I work at a spa and it's fun to play with all that girly stuff but I'm just as comfy in jeans or sweats laying in the grass or playing in the woods. I love to hike trails and climb trees, I like to play "clouds" where you make shapes out of the clouds in the sky or even better the reflections in the water. I love to walk and pick flowers and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. I try to find some quiet time each day but truly miss the time I used to spend journaling, songwriting or thinking by the water where I used to walk my dog. I'm a giver and have a hard time being a receiver sometimes... depends. I'm a lover, not a fighter... I pretty loud and can be outspoken but I am also quiet and shy at times... sometimes I can ramble for hours and others I can just sit and listen forever... Communication is important but so is knowing when to bite your tongue. I'm also pretty sensitive myself and to those around me... I always give of myself, I enjoy making people happy.. and always need reminders to take care of myself. My closest friends know that about me and have a way to remind me to take time for me without being overbearing, bc then I won't listen.. haha... On the other hand I'm far from the kind of girl you could walk all over. I'm outgoing and crazy but tactful... and I'm known for having a way to put things... I'm best with writing though, I write alot of poetry and music all the time... I'm a sucker for good lyrics and am told I have a way with words... even though sometimes I think I ramble. I guess I like to make my point but I don't like to offend people and I love to hear opinions from others. Someone described me just today as conservative but edgy.. I like that. I love to write... being a musician and artist I can't get enough out of the beauty of creation and the wonder of words... I spent 6 months in Mexico and love learning about people, languages and culture... trying new things. I am in school... working on degrees.. BA in graphic design, music (vocal and flute) performance and an Assoc. deg. in Massage Therapy. My passions are writing music... can get lost for hours just sitting at a piano with my notebook and mind racing... the others include photography, especially black and white and hand coloring... rollerblading although after a bad fall last summer I have yet to get back on... and also I love to dance... falling in trance to good rhythm and passionate musicians. My previous job was a nanny for four adorable boys in Minnesota... so basically I got paid to act like a silly kid all day (jk) but anyway my days were fun and undoubtedly everchanging... always challenging, high energy but full of life and surprises... little boys ask the funniest questions... I was asked the ever popular why do boys have weenies and girls don't q... wow did I get speechless for that one... I've been asked about poop and farts and body parts and it's all been very funny and a great experience... children teach you so much, not only about life but about yourself... I've learn that a childs innocence is one of the most pure and beautiful things in the world. The way they are always seeking, trying to learn and please, and how they have no inhibitions to ask questions... when in life do we become so afraid? I've now moved to Maui, Hawaii and I'm loving life here in upcountry. I love to get back to the midwest and see family, friends and the Great Lakes but life here has taken me in and I love it. It's so rewarding and enjoyable. I love it. I could probably go on forever but I'll end with... when someone asks me what I want to do with my life... my answer is usually something like, what's there NOT to do... life has so much to offer... don't chase your dreams, live them! You should give at least five hugs a day and always smile.. you never know who might be falling in love with it. Life... the following is something that I wrote in college and still love. "...You might say everyone of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasent, simple tune without breaking his neck. It isn't easy..." Aren't we all trying to play the beautiful music of life? We stand on the roof of life trying to continue to create harmony between our comfortable surroundings and the constant change of the world around us. Sometimes the roof of life may feel as if it's crumbling beneath us, forcing us to make choices in the composition of our song. No matter which way you choose to write your next verse, remember that a balance of conscience and an open mind will keep you standing firm on your roof of life. Sometimes, we may not want to perform, but we don't have a choice. At times, the music is there in front of us, other times we may need the help of our fellow musicians, and sometimes we may have to improvise, but either way we have to listen to the tune in each of our hearts... and follow it.
