I am here for Friends

About Me

There are many sides to my personality, I guess. I'm kind of a contradiction, but I think that's pretty standard. I'm ever-changing, as we all are. I can be serious and quiet and withdrawn, but I'm usually pretty friendly and outgoing. I love people unless they give me a reason not to. I can talk a lot. I can be hyper. I smile a lot. Some people ask me why, and I just smile. I love to laugh and make people laugh. I've got a strange sense of humor and I'm very easily amused. I like to see the beauty in everything. I can be sarcastic. I try to be honest. I enjoy a good conversation... my attention span is way too short for this right now. I get like that sometimes, where I can't sit still. Sometimes I think I have the emotional IQ of a toddler. Sometimes I have trouble making decisions, even stupid little ones. I like to laugh and cry. I was raised with three big brothers so I'm not exactly butch, but I'm also not extremely feminine. I take short showers. I don't wear makeup or spend an excessive amount of time trying to make myself look pretty. I'm friendly and generally get along with everyone, but the human race sometimes gets me down. I have a tendency to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. I feel bad about things I have no involvement in and no control over. I want to help everyone. Empathy and compassion are blessings, but they get on my nerves sometimes. I swear a lot. I don't understand why swearing is offensive to some people. I think there are much more important things to worry about and be afraid of... like religious fanaticism, for example. I love animals. I have two cats and a dog (sort of). I'm not a big sports fan, but I like the Yankees sometimes. I used to be a field hockey goalie, that was fun. I believe that nothing is black and white (and that this kind of thinking is dangerous). I believe in the power of positive thought. I believe the world is an incredible, beautiful place, despite all of the horrible things going on. I believe there is a positive side to every negative, and vice versa. I have many different laughs... and sneezes. I ramble sometimes, but you already know that. I like to talk, but also listen. I try to do whatever I can to help those around me. I'm trying to figure out what I can do with my life that will make a difference, but I also feel like I'm already making a difference. I've used entirely too many "I" statements.

I had gastric bypass surgery on 12/06/04. I lost about 150 lbs. I'm back to normal, the way I'm supposed to be. Right now I'm trying to work out regularly, but I'm not trying to lose anymore weight. I didn't have my surgery to fit some fucked-up beauty ideal. Nobody should strive for that.
I'd be glad to talk to anyone who has had the surgery or is interested.

Friends. That is ALL. So leave me alone, dirty old (and young) men.

**I will sick my Pekingese on anyone who sends me a "ur a hotty" message, so be careful if you want to keep both of your eyes and testicles. As you can see, he's a vicious, ruthless bastard who won't think twice about removing chunks of your scalp on command**

This is Dwayne and I outside of the Quick Stop from Clerks:

Television:

Not big on TV (don't even bring one to school) but my favorites are Six Feet Under, Freaks and Geeks, Chappelle's Show, South Park, and Kyle XY! So yeah, only two of my favorite shows are still running. The only channels I really watch are Comedy Central and Lifetime (Nanny reruns, bitch), with the occasional HBO and Nickelodeon... Oh, I forgot Family Feud. Game shows rock.

Books:

All kinds of stuff- memoir, fiction, poetry, anything related to psychology and women/gender issues... two of my all-time favorites are Vonnegut and Nabokov. I also really like Augusten Burroughs. Celeste and I met him in Bryant Park:

Summer '07 Reading- The Only Girl in the Car, Dick for a Day, Cunt, The Ethical Slut, The Secret, Diana, Ex-"It", The Skin Between Us, Wild Ride, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, The Handmaid's Tale
