I'm interested in a lot of things. I like to learn about the way things work, why things happen and why they are important. I believe that my vast interests are the reason for my ability to collect a somewhat rediculous amount of STUFF. I like music and talk radio, sewing and art, working out and lazy afternoons, writing and reading. I'm a little bit of a science nerd and I like the out of the ordinary. Work is cool because it's an adventure. I get paid to have little adrenaline rushes every now and then. I try not to get too geeked out about work, but I'm lucky to have a job that is so fun. I travel pretty regularly, sometimes by myself. I decided a while ago that I wasn't going to be able to see everything I want to see if I waited for other people to do it with me. The weather interests me, so if I ask you what the weather is like, I really want to know. I'm a creature of habit, but sometimes the habits are weird. I think photobooths are one of the greatest inventions/adventures ever. I've had to replace my camera twice in the last year because of how much I use and abuse it. I really enjoy meeting genuine people, making friends, and then doing real, normal things with them. Thats right, I said normal. Whatever that means.
There are a variety of other individuals I am interested in meeting. "Maybe some women aren't supposed to be tamed. Maybe they're supposed to run wild until they find someone, just as wild, to run with. " I no longer want to meet everyone but I would like to meet: Ralph Steadman, The people that came up with Craftster (geniuses, I swear), Elizabeth Caddy Stanton, Eric Clapton, Bill Nighy, Colin Firth (hot!) Someone with a hook up on fabric and other sewing accoutrament, and of course, My Maker. I usually remember faces so if we've met and you want to be buddies, cool. Pretty much everything. Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Roy Orbison, Jackie Green, Green Day, Blue October, Corrine Bailey Rae, Elton John, Radiohead, Dave Matthews Band (live cd's are the best), Vince Guaraldi, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Notorious B.I.G., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol, Rascal Flatts, Stone Temple Pilots, Tony Bennett, Sublime, Tortured Soul, Prince, and way to many more to list... And while I did say 'pretty much everything' I like to make it known that I really can't stand the Beastie Boys and I think Nirvana is really overated.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, HERO, The Life Aquatic..., The Big Chill, Boogie Nights, Igby Goes Down, House of Flying Daggers, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Royal Tenenbaums, Little Miss Sunshine, Almost Famous, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead, Dogma, Man on Fire, Run Lola Run, Zoolander, Snatch, The 5th Element, Empire Records and the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!!!
I feel stupid after watching certain things on TV, and yet I still find myself watching it. Oddly, I don't feel as stupid watching cartoons as I do watching certain reality TV... On the other hand, by the end of this summer I will have most likely seen every episode of COPS ever made (the benefits of working witha bunch of guys).
I read alot. I like to read things before they're made into movies. Bookstores are a dangerous place for my checking account. I can usually get it down to two to four books at a time. Costco's book section is like a magnet every time I go in. A couple of favorites; The Great Gatsby, The Giver, Matilda (yes, I happen to love children's books), Charlotte's Web, James and the Giant Peach, The Outsiders, The Red Tent, East of Eden, The Secret Life of Bees, Memoirs of a Geisha, Bastard Out of Carolina and so many more. During the summer, at the fire station, I'll read a couple of books per week. I also have this weird thing for coffee table books.
Free spirits and truly happy individuals.
