WE WANT YOU TO SHOOT CITY'S NEXT TRAVEL COVERThe second annual ONE CITY, MANY DESTINATIONS travel photography contest boasts the ultimate grand prize: CITY Magazine's cover shot. Amateur and professional photographers from around the world are invited to submit images for juried competition and a chance at landing on the cover of CITY's Fall ’08 Travel issue, on sale September 30, 2008.
Photographers are asked to submit images that best capture a unique moment in the life of a city or other travel destination. Entries should distill the essence of a particular place into a single image and inspire CITY’s readers to pack their bags and explore the destination themselves.
Contest Prizes A jury of internationally renowned photography and travel aficionados will pick one winning image to appear on the cover of
CITY's Fall '08 Travel issue. The work of 15 additional runners-up will appear in a special travel photography portfolio inside CITY's Fall '08 Travel issue.
The
grand-prize winner will also receive a prize package that includes:
• A
week-long, all-expenses-paid trip for two to Austria, including round-trip airline tickets, all sponsored by the Austrian Tourist Office. While in Austria, the winner will also have the opportunity to shoot a sponsored-editorial travel photo story for a future issue of CITY. • A
professional digital camera.
All
15 runners-up will also win a compact digital camera.
2007 Contest Recap: Last year, CITY received
more than 4,000 entries to the inaugural ONE CITY, MANY DESTINATIONS contest. New York–based photographer Konstantino Hatzisarros’ stunning image of two Burmese monks in a Mandalay temple won the coveted spot on CITY’s cover. The issue hit stands just as Burmese monks across Myanmar began their protests against the national junta government. Fifteen additional photographers, hailing from Vancouver to Brooklyn to London to Calcutta, were named runners-up. To view the winning 2007 portfolio, click here .
