About Me

"If you know love, you know me." I am Jaja. I am an artist, with a background in fashion and journalism. Anyone who knows me knows I have an insatiable appetite for fashion, people, culture and knowledge. Those things you want to do, you dream of doing, and you think of reasons not to do--I do. I don't look back. That's life. That's fashion. That's me. Crazy? A little. A little more. Because anything less isn't worth it.
2006. The year I earned my bachelor's degree and decided I didn't want it. University does not take accept refunds. Pity! That same year, I gave birth to ugoseven , my fashion label grounded in art, abstract beauty and urbanity. My design aesthetic draws heavily upon elements of femininity, juxtaposed with hardcore toughness and influences from my vibrant Nigerian heritage.
With ugoseven, I am determined to change the way stylish, aggressive and brazen women wear clothing. Signature bold colours, supple fabrics and rugged textures make up a wardrobe for the woman who embraces the power, the adventure, the life that comes with being always a lady. "Life is your stage. So dress up."

About me and my loves in life:
Definitions belong to the definer. I believe everyone should own their own definition of self and style. I love the complex simplicity of nature. I love the duplicity and vulnerability of people. I love the loyalty of animals. And I love colour, on everything, everywhere. I love to dream, and then to chase it relentlessly until I get close enough to seize it. My motto is: look good, feel good and do good. I love to laugh. I love passionate debate and passionate love. That's me in a kola nutshell!

African prints, victorian accents, leather and lace, and bold colours marked the Spring 2006 Ugo 7 Collection at STRUT fashion show, Richmond, Va.
