About Me

Formed in Koprivnice, Czech Republic in 2003.It took a while till Kauflant was brave enough to play their first gig... After founding bass player Nimra was kicked, a new member was invited - Sedlo. The first public appearance came quite soon. The music changed a bit: instead of punky rock´n roll, the songs became more complitated and frequent rythm changes were something like "trademark" of Kauflant.Lyrics are only in Czech. Since they are quite important for the band, any translation or shitty English pronunciation would make the songs completely harmless and comic. The first record they produced was "unofficial" demo CD from 2004 - Pracovni nahravka. They recorded the old stuff and two brand new songs were added. Later, those two songs were used for the first "official" promo CD - Promo 2005. Songs "Uzene ve dvou", "Pan Grygar" and live recording of the song "Mungo:The Incident" were mostly distribuded for free on the band´s gigs.More new songs were composed in the following months. Kauflant than played more gigs than ever and became known in the area of the town Bruntal mostly, but complete region on northen Moravia was actually "infected" by their "dark rock´n roll" (their own description of the genre).Another milestone was the coming of saxophone player Milan Rakus to the band. They re-worked most of the songs and again - they got closer to the "alternative" branch of punk.Live record of the gig from Bridlicna - Kubafest was made in summer 2006.Unfortunately another founding member had to be removed from the band - guitarist Machy. So it took a while till one and only remaining six-stringer Horac was able to play all the parts properly... They decided not to find replacement for Machy, maybe just to piss him off (he was quite a self-centered prat..) and to prove that they can go on even without him, but the real reason probably was, that they did not want to lose more time finding a new guy, explaining all the guitar parts to him etc. etc.So they remained five and the line-up has not change since then.In February 2007 they played a gig as the quests of the legendary band from Koprivnice - Nesselsdorf at the occasion of Nesselsdorf´s first official album release (Piper Records)This gig was recorded as well, so you can hear a couple of songs on Myspace.com
