By Olaf Øwre for the fortcoming album " Høyoktan" High Octane (Høyoktan) The best of Blått & Rått
The Norwegian rock..n roll band Blått & Rått has existed since 1991. The line up have been the same since 1996 with Svein Kaspersen (Vocals, guitar, harmonica)Steinar Steffensen (lead guitar),Ronald Alertsen (Bass) and Knut Amundsen (drums). With Norwegian lyrics and a solid musical platform based on blues and 60..s and 70..s rock and roll, this hard-working band has gained a lot of fans and friends all over Norway. They have been touring Norway for 15 years and have also appeared several times on Norwegian television. The eternal glaziers of Svalbard have also seen the blue-frozen natives of the island get many degrees warmer by Blått & Råtts music several times in Longyearbyen. With a live reportoir filled with energy ,the band recently played for the multi-national workers at Statoil Melkøya with great success.Blått & Rått has since 1996 released 5 cd..s and 2 singles. The three first cd..s on their own independent label. These cd..s have been sold out for years, but contains classical Blått & Rått tracks such as "Victoriahavn", "Jernbanespor", "Hvite engel" and "Oppned".These songs are still live favourites at the concerts.It..s with great pleasure Blått & Rått and Tylden record company are making these old songs available again-now in a remastered version, along with a solid dose of the bands best songs from the two latest albums released in 2002 and 2005.This collection is trying to show a cross-section of Blått & Råtts music through the last decade. From a sound scenery with stonebreaking drums, pumping bass ,heavy guitar riffs and frenetical vocal, to more mainstream radio-oriented pop/rock songs and more acoustic oriented and tender songs with great feeling. All this is Blått & Rått A rock n.. roll band with many various aspects in their music, but always with a honest live-feeling in it...The two new previously unreleased songs "Tornerose" and "Høyoktan"( high octane) shows Blått & Rått of today and illustrate well that the band has improved musically through the years in the rock..n roll business - touring Norway in all kinds of weather...From snowstorms at Finnmarksvidda to the warm sun at several festivals in the southern part of the country in the summertime....With our arctic climate and dangerous Norwegian roads, it..s a miracle that the band is still alive and well.....This band has enough horse-power under the hood to reach extreme speed and burn their high octane fuel effectively...This is pure, honest rock..n roll marked "Good Norwegian"..Quality songs you want to hear many times a day and even in the middle of the night at a sweat live- scene...Olaf ØwreFebruary 2007
