Manel Salas, after finishing the post secondary study in Physical Education, started to realise that all that he has done until that point did not calm his personal needs; a desire started to rise from deeper in his soul. Unconsciously he embarked on a journey of internal discovery, trying to search and understand his real needs. The journey commenced at the age of twenty, when hip hop dancing was his hobby. He got interested in all the hip-hop and funk culture and urban arts. He started practising popping, locking, break-dance and travelled to many places including the U.S.A, France, Belgium and Germany. Immediately he developed his skills as a teacher, dancer and choreographer. Manel has taught in the best schools in Barcelona and has been invited to different countries to teach in international dance workshops. As a dancer he has a broad range of experience ranging from films, to concerts, to TV programmes. He has also developed his skills as a hip hop performer working with different companies such as contemporary dance company Metros, and with the flamenco company Color. However, Manel felt that what he had achieved during this intensive hip hop phase did not completely meet up to his artistic potential, so at twenty-four years old he decided to go to the dance academy of Codarts in Rotterdam. There he studied ballet and different modern dance techniques. He has worked with various choreographers such as Amy Raymond. Alongside his studies at the Rotterdam Dance Academy he has taught hip-hop classes in different cities in The Netherlands; he has made choreographies for an R&B singer; he has danced in a show of Coalition Of the Wicked (C.O.W.),an urban music band; and he has won a large hip-hop competition (NAME) which gave him the opportunity to take classes with top choreographers from the USA at Broadway Dance Center in New York. Currently Manel is developing his contemporary dance skills on a professional level. Since YEAR he has been working as a company member of the CobosMika dance company, based in Palamos, Spain. The company performs at large festivals in Spain and abroad. Still today Manel has not found a clear way to reach his goal, a goal which at times seems big and abstract. But he is still searching and trying to understand his needs, which until now have defined the path of life for him. Every day he learns a little more about the performing arts and about life itself; the search for a personal language with which to communicate never ends.
