New EP "WorldShaker" set for release in July 2008

About Me

"From the moment I heard the opening roar of a Springsteen show I knew that being a musician was not just something I wanted to do. It was something I had to do." - Chad Kichula
Born and raised in a small Canadian city, Chad Kichula has built a solid musical foundation from the roots of working class heroes. Kichula, a Regina, Saskatchewan native, was inspired by the blue-collar drenched tones of Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle. "The songs that they were singing gave a real sense of validation and pride, as well a motivation to begin writing about my own life experiences and the world around me."
"The pressure and daily grind of working for myself as a tree worker have definitely infused itself into my songwriting. Lyrical ideas continually pop in my head as I'm working and I'm constantly saving them until I can get home and piece it all together." Although the success of being self-employed didn't happen over night, after several years of hard work it did to allow Kichula the time and freedom to begin pursuing the dream of recording his songs and playing live shows. "I had a mountain of material written but hadn't played a single show. My first live performance was in 2004 in front of about 6 people, all of which I had to convince to come out. But that one show with 6 people was all I needed to confirm the reason I became a songwriter."
Since releasing his self-titled debut in 2005, Chad has continued to tour, record and see his music played around the globe. In late 2007, Chad released "Better in the Mornin'", a three song digital album with a softer acoustic feel than the indie rock of his first album. The ep has been received with a great deal of enthusiasm, as the single "Never Seen the Ocean" rose up the US ac charts in early 2008. Following the year's earlier success, Chad records "World Shaker" as the title track of an ep for release in July 2008. Inspired by the movie "Cool Hand Luke", Chad explores the outlaw imagery of this 60's cinema classic. In "World Shaker" we hear Kichula moving in a new direction, with a new sound and a new attitude.
